Favorite Vegas Casino

Post by carl_vegas »

Just a question for Vegas locals or those who visit Vegas often.  What is your favorite Vegas casino?  Where do you find the best VP games, variety of denominations, and best pay tables?

I like two a lot--Palms and Red Rock.  I have not been there recently so don't know the tables right now.  But would go back to either one.

RR and GVR...I'm not a local but when I go that's where I stay and play...Hit a royal on the last trip at GVR..$.50 on a DDB/TP.....Played down $300 and on the last hand held one ace and got the royal.  took a picture and didn't realize until I saw it that I held the wrong thing...I had two same suit high cards and held the non suited A instead...You just never know...I'd love to post the picture but don't know how...

Not a local. Prefer Main Street Station when I'm there.

Our visits to Vegas center around Red Rock and the Palms - going next week and we can't wait!!!   The best overall, VP, rooms, pool!!!, and courteous staff is Red Rock. If you haven't tried it it is well worth the extra time to go.

Our stay at the Palms next week will be the first time for staying but we love the VP which also has 100% returns. Looking forward to checking out the suites for a couple of days. We weren't impressed with the buffet on previous trips.

As far as pay tables and variety - Red Rock, Green Valley and the Station Casinos feature 100% return machines on VP and the latest new machines.

Hi Carl, We took the advice of LL and others on this site and checked out RedRock a few trips back.  It's now one of our favorites.  We also like Samstown for VP variety and nice comps.  We've hit more than one Royal at Sam's over the last few years.

For many years Sam's Town was my favorite. But they've cut back quite a bit although they still have some good games at low denoms. I would say South Point is now about as good as I've seen for overall quality of games, etc. Stations/Fiesta still have some good games for the low denom players but you won't get all that good of comps for playing them.

My favorite casino in Vegas to stay in is Caesars' Palace. It's in the center of the strip, easy access to everything, and my wife can be in shopping paradise at the Forum Shops while I'm off gambling. Plus it hasn't hurt to be Seven Stars the past couple of years and get everything for free there.

For video poker, the Red Rock has the best variety of the video poker games and the best overall pay tables on the newest machines in such a clean, comfortable environment. You can play single line Optimum Pay, 5-play Multi-strike, Wheel Poker, Supertimes Pay, Ultimate X, etc. Green Valley Ranch is almost identical to Red Rock and about the same drive time from Caesars on 215, however GVR is a little older and not as clean as RR. The Palms, in my opinion, has the largest selection of straight (non-carnival) video poker in Vegas. The only problem with The Palms is that they'll change the pay tables quite often and you have to search for the better games. I used to crush the NSUD in the high-limit room there until they changed the pay table from 16-10 to 15-9. Everyone stopped playing that game, then they changed it back. I don't appreciate The Palms messing around like that. Most knowledgeable players know immediately what their looking for at that level. I felt they alienated the better players when they did that. Therefore most of my play is done at Red Rock now. In addition, the hotel at Red Rock is phenomenal. The rooms are comparable to those at Bellagio.

I like to split up my time between the strip and downtown. They are each way different experiences and fun in their own unique kind of way. I really like El Cortez and for the strip i like the Wynn.
