using WinPoker on you phone while playing

Post by Fergie72 »

So a few weeks ago I drove to an indian casino to play some vp. I scouted the games and decided that a .25 Bonus Deuces progressive bank was the best play (it was just under 98%return)

I had never played this game before so I went into a bathroom stall and practiced in training mode using WinPoker on my iphone after plugging in the exact pay table. After 10 minutes or so I felt I had the basics down and went and played the machine. I kept the phone out with WinPoker up so I could check hands I was unsure of. I played a total of 11 hours this way on $200 without even a weird look from any casino employee. What are the chances I could have done this in a Vegas casino?I will be in Vegas for 4 days next week and will be playing strategies that I have down almost perfectly so I will rarely need to plug in a hand to get the correct hold. If I do this maybe 3 times an hour do you think i will have a problem?I will be sure to post a trip report when I return, hopefully with a few nice pics of hand pays!

Using an electronic gambling device in a casino is illegal in Nevada. My be illegal where you live also. However, with so many people texting each other these days the casinos may just let it go.  Keep in mind they are within their rights to confiscate the device.

I know its illegal and they can confiscate the device and have me arrested or 86ed from the joint. What I am curious about is their actual policy. Like you mentioned, with so many people using phones on the gaming floor is it likely they will be concerned about a .25 vp player who occasionally looks up holds? I kind of doubt it, however if somebody has info to the contrary I certainly would like to know about it.

But they do sell strategy cards (at least for blackjack, that I've seen) in the gift shops, so what would be the difference of that person checking his card(which I'm fairly sure is OK with the casino) and checking it with a phone?? I would think for the 5 times you go to it wouldn't be like using it for every hand..Just keep it to a minimum and reply the right way if asked ...

That is pretty much what I intend to do. Its not like I cant get a comped room somewhere else in town if  the worst happens, and Ive been looking for an excuse to get the newest iphone anyway.
