Video Poker Road Trip

Post by FloridaPhil »

Just returned from my "Bucket List" road trip across the county.  Drove to Biloxi the first night and hit a bunch of quads on night one.  After a nice evening at the Beau Rivage (compted), I drove to Albuquerque, NM. on day three. Tried the Hard Rock (not that great), on a tip from a fellow player went to the Route 66 casino and found the odds a lot better.  Also stopped off at the Sandia.  Real nice Jacks progressive.  Picked up my wife and drove to Grand Junction.  Found some Bonus VP paying 150 coins for a quad (interesting) at a local Indian casino.   Won some money and took off the next morning for Vegas.  Stayed at the MGM Grand (comped again) for two days.  Wow, Vegas has really built up.  I hate it.  Way too much noise and traffic.  The MGM is a total waste of time in my opinion.  On the advice of the forum I went to Sams and the Palms.  Sam’s is great!  Loved it.  The Palms was OK, but not that great.  From there we went to Colorado Springs.  Drove up to the mountains and visited Cripple Creek.  What a cool little town.  The city is like an old gold rush town in a beautiful mountain setting.  The altitude had my head spinning, but hit  two back-to-back  deuces playing deuces wild plus another $100. Loved the place and want to go back…  From there we went to Santa Fe and stayed in the Buffalo Thunder Resort.  Very nice place with a clean new casino and very few smokers.  Anyway, we drove over 6,000 miles total and played a ton of VP.  Loved it!

Will repeat the trip back to NH with same stops and one added at Mohegan Sun in CT the beginning of Nov. Maybe I can talked someone to  going to cripple creek (been there) or black hawk (never been there) while here.

Sounds like a fun trip.  Congratulations on the hits.  I have never been to Cripple Creek but have heard that it's a great place.  A cross country video poker trip is on our bucket list too.  We just got back from a Vegas trip, stayed at Sams, Orleans and Red Rock.  We were pretty lucky at all three places and even came back with money.  I got my first royal flush on dollars.   Looking forward to the next trip.  Good luck to all!!

You can actually figure out how to play at a casino every night all the way from Florida to Vegas.  I think the only States where we couldn't find one was Georgia, Texas and Utah.  The drive was kind of tiring, but playing the whole way was a lot of fun.  Gas averaged about $3.30/Gal. and a lot of the rooms were comped. I think the whole trip cost us a little less than 4K for everything.  We loved it...

Great trip, Phil. We do the FLA-ILL/IND trip regularly, since both the wife and I have family up there. We do Home-Biloxi-Tunica-Metropolis-Joliet on the way up, and Horseshoe So Ind-Tunica-Biloxi-Home on the way back. Nights are all comped, and during the summer, play some really nice golf courses at those locations.

Sounds like an awesome trip Phil. Life is always better when you get a chance to do something like your trip.

PS: Check out Lake Charles casinos next time you come through. L'Auberge du Lac and Isle have some great pay returns and you can rest before hitting the 1,000 mile across Texas run. What a pity San Antonio didn't have gambling to break up your drive.   Someday maybe Texas will learn what their missing by sending all the money to La, OK, and NM.
