Future Legal Online Gaming

Here is a question for our VP community. If the US legalizes online gaming, and that gaming includes VP, do you think that the 'brick and mortar' casinos will provide better pay tables to be more competitive?




I think they will have to, personally, in order to continue to induce players to come to their establishment. I was thinking, originally, that legalized online gaming would be a bad thing, but if it helps improve VP pay tables on truly random machines at casino resorts, then I think that is a positive.
Anybody else have some thoughts on this?

Don't think the paytables would change. Remember one of the Casinos champing at the bit for on line gambling is Harrahs. If you have noticed the trend in LV is to reduce the amount of machines they have and are merchandising all the extras. In fact they have made more money from shows, rooms, food etc. then from gambling last year. The online advantage to them is great. One virtual machine will handle all the play w/o a huge investment in the real estate required  to house physical machinesThe opposite could also happen. They paytables on the virtual machines could be so low they drive knowledgable people to the Casino..Ok billy, my opinion and you know what that is worth.

I've been alive long enough to know that when the government gets involved with something it's almost always in the interested of repressing fair competition. Therefore if they legalize online gambling it is probably after extensive backdoor lobbying with casinos to get them all the profits. Which more or less means the brick and mortar casinos won't be competing with online gaming, but will be online gaming. Look at the Poker disaster, everyone loved online poker and it was actual legitimate competition amongst all the online sites. So, instead of the government staying out of the way and allowing free market competition to take its course the government just decided to play favorite to the brick and mortar casinos and make it "illegal".

If my memory is correct, Congress was just reflecting the same "moral" belief as the leadership in Texas - which is why we don't have casinos in Texas.
