ARIA in Las Vegas

Just got back from a Vegas trip, which included a first-time stay at ARIA, attending the Michael Jordan Celebrity Invitational Golf Tournament. I didn't get to play golf in the event, but attended all the other functions.
The rooms have all the controls (lights, drapes) set on your TV. A nice feature was a "Goodnight" switch by the bed, which closed the drapes and turned out all the lights. The bad feature is, it must be sound-wave controlled, because I sneezed once and the drapes opened. Also, the reading light turned on in the middle of the night - not cool.
The casino had some pretty good VP. There were some 9/6 TDB, along with a few of the newer games/machines, including a Five Star Poker.
Wife had a good casino trip - me, not so much. They limo'ed us from the airport on arrival, only to have our room not ready. I can never understand how that can happen, and it is a REAL P#$$ER for the wife. So while waiting for the room, she proceeded to get an RF on a $1 machine for $4k. I guess she showed them.

Cosmopolitan has the same kind of room control you described but since I didn't sneeze during the night, I can't confirm whether it was also based on sound technology. Maybe your wife's royal while waiting for the room will make sure that doesn't happen again to VIPs. By the way, what time of day did you arrive (not that it should matter?)

We arrived early,Tomcat, by hotel standards. But my beef is that if you are putting us up as VIP guests, and sending limos to pick us up, follow through and have our room ready, regardless of what time we arrive. I am a NOIR level, and I am guaranteed a room any time I want. It was mid-week, and certainly should not have been a problem.
 
I frequently see a disconnect between hotel operations and casino operations at both MGM and Caesars/Harrah's properties.

Oh, Billy Joe. that made me laugh so hard when you said you sneezed and the drapes opened up. Kind of sets the scene for possible "what-ifs". The vision of sneezng and the curtains whizzing open is just too funny. Made my day, son.

My husband often has, uh, how can this be put delicately, tummy upsets..I'm thinking the bed may rotate and shoot him right out the window...hmm,all in all, not a bad outcome.

HI Billyjoe, It really is poor customer service for this to happen - Noir, guaranteed room anytime, limo waiting and then room not ready..........just not right! My wife are going to stay a couple of nights on MGM in June.  I have historically stayed at Harrahs properties and the last 2 trips MGM Grand and Luxor.  I can stay at any of their properties but I have never stayed at Aria nor Bellagio - which would be your choice of the two? Thanks, Robert
