Video Poker Road Trip 2012

Post by FloridaPhil »

My wife and I love taking long road trips to see the sites and play video poker all over the country.  This year, we will start in Black Hawk Colorado, drive down to Durango, then head north to Coeur d'Alene Idaho.  We'll probably come back to Denver through Montana and Wyoming. Last year we did Albuquerque, Vegas, Santa Fe and Colorado Springs.   We loved Cripple Creek and the Buffalo Thunder Resort in New Mexico.  Anyone been to Black Hawk or any other interesting casinos along our path this year?

Phil,
Sounds like those side trips to casinos really add extra to your trips like it does ours. Hope you and wife have a great and safe trip with lots of RF and hits to post. Can't wait to read your postings.

Two years ago we started in Winsor Canada.  I hit a $2,000 Royal about 10 minutes in.  It was Canadian money so I got a little less than 2K but no W-2G. We drove up into Michigan and played in every Indian Casino along the way. Amazingly, some of them actually had pretty decent pay schedules.  We came back through St. Louis and stayed at Harrah's before driving back to Florida.  Came home with $600 more in my gambling stash than I left with, so all was good.  Last year I drove to Albuquerque by myself because I always wanted to drive cross country and my wife said she would only ride one way.  She flew in and we played all over New Mexico and found the Buffalo Thunder Resort in Santa Fe.  It's very nice and we stayed there a few days.  From there we drove to Colorado Springs and played in Cripple Creek, Co.  What a hoot.  It's lots of fun but the altitude makes you a little weird. I hit 2 sets of quad deuces that day, so things went well.   We drove back to Florida and played all along the way.  We love these video poker vacations.  Our next one starts the third week in September.  Can't wait...

I, too, live in Florida, Phil. I have relatives in the Midwest that are either too old or too poor to visit us, so we make trips up there around some of the holidays. When we do, we usually drive, because we like to 'casino hop' our way up and back. If it is summer, we play a lot of golf along the way also.
Good luck on your trip.

Next year why don't you truly drive cross country. Just take I-10 west from Jacksonville or wherever you hit it in Florida. Once past New Mexico there are nice casinos near Tucson, Phoenix & Palm Springs just off the interstate. Several are visible from the highway. Others are minutes away. But try to avoid the summer. LOL

Yep, I-10 will also get you to Biloxi and New Orleans. Harrah's properties in both cities. Not sure about Texas, though, which may be a long drought.
