RF at the Red Rock

Post by JDanno »

We just got back from 8 days in Vegas and 2 days in Reno/Tahoe. I really liked the Atlantis Casino in Reno even tho I went down about $125 there. We stayed at J.A.'s Nugget and was NOT impressed. VERY smoky.
Lake Tahoe was very pretty. That was about a week before the big fire.
We stayed four nights in the South Point Casino Hotel in Vegas and four nights in the L.V.Hilton next to the convention center. South Point has nice rooms for the money but is a bit too far off the strip. It is just across the freeway from Silverton which is where I spent most of my video poker time.  The two week days we spent in the Hilton were only $39 per night and jumped to 3x that on the weekend. One day we went to Red Rock. My wife went to see a movie (they have about six screens) while I was busy with the V.P. I hit one RF while playing the 50 hand machine. It was on the  $.05 setting, alas. That got me back up to even, temporarily.  I was suppose to meet my wife at 3 p.m. at the entrance to the theater and since there wasn't any place to sit I plopped down in one of the chairs in front of the Wheel of Fortune. Out of sheer boredom I stuck the remaining $18 (out of $200) ticket into the machine and hit the "max" button. On about the third hand the bells started ringing and I got a spin on the big wheel. It landed on 5000 points and with the "max" it was multiplied by 5. I had no clue about how much money that was because I still didn't know how it happened. When I checked the amount I was shocked to see $250. I about broke my left thumb punching out the "cash out" button. About that time my wife walked out of the theater and wanted to know what I was excited about! There is something to be said for "blind, staggering luck"!!  Overall, for the week I ended up about $200 for V.P. and used half the money to buy a nice pair of leather shoes.

You can't beat luck. You even need a decent amount when playing full pay games or you'll lose there as well.

I'd visit South Point more often if they had some decent VP. They do have some FPJOB and NSUD but these are borderline games with little chance to make a profit.
