Multi Game Machine Question

Post by jakgaph »

kind of a wierd question, but is changing games on a multi-game machine the same as Taking a ticket from one machine to another ?? My assumption is yes, that each part of a multi game and for that matter multi-denomination is like playing an entirely different machine. I ask because from time to time I will increase my denomination from quarters to dollars etc, but also try and log hands played and time spent. If I am at a machine for a while without getting a quad, I may stay with it and increase my wager, but if this is equal to taking a ticket out of a quarter machine, walking across the casino and placing it into a dollar machine i need to know.Thanks.

It is essentially the same. The base assumtion of VP is that every hand is independent of any other hand. Therefore, it makes no difference what you do as over time these choices will all balance out. What does make a difference is the choice of paytables as I'm sure you know. That is the one thing we can control more than any other thing to impact our results over time.

My answer to that would be "yes".  On a specific case-by-case basis, there are times switching machines to play a different game/denomination will give you a better result than you would have gotten by staying on the same machine and changing the game/denomination.  For each of those cases, there will be a case where staying on the same machine will give you a better result than you would have gotten by moving to another machine.  This assumes the paytables for the different games on the multi-game machine are the same as those for the single-game machines.  It averages out - a "wash".  If your strategy involves different games/denominations it makes no difference long term whether you stay or move.

Yes, and I like cddenver's explanation better.
