I live in Illinois and there are two CET properties within an hours drive from me: Harrah's Joliet, and Horseshoe Hammond. I don't go to Horseshoe Hammond because of the cigarette/cigar smoke so they are usually not a place I will go to.

I do make the drive down to Laurenceburg, IN, a Hollywood casino is there and recently a CET property opened in Cincinnati. The drive is about 4 hours from my house and I just went 3 weeks ago. I have driven up to Minnesota, a 5 1/2 hour drive, to Iowa, a 2 1/2 hour drive, and to Tunica, a 10 hour drive. With Las Vegas being only a 4 hour drive from Phoenix I know my car would be pointed northwest on a regular basis if I lived in Phoenix. Cut an hour off the drive time if I wanted to go to Laughlin.

My point is that if I want to play somewhere other than the limited gaming choices I have near me in Illinois then it is no problem for me to hop in the car and go. I know that this type of drive doesn't suit alot of people but to me it really isn't a problem.

Harrah's Joliet is giving me some gas cards in an August promotion and I just might take those because, combined, they would be more than enough to get me to Tunica sometime in September.

I have been somewhat loyal to CET over the years and one reason why is because a few years ago I was playing at several different casinos over the year and I was about 1,000 tier credits shy of reaching Diamond. One day in the mail I got a letter from them telling me that they were going to award me Diamond for the next year even though I was only at 90% of reaching Diamond, I have always appreciated that they did this for me.

I am nowhere near the level of play that billyjoe or roveer are as I am usually playing at the .25 level but if I make 10 trips to CET properties over the year I am usually able to make Diamond. If I go to Las Vegas, I have not yet this year, I rack up tier credits quicker because I will usually spend time at most of their Las Vegas properties. For some reason I like staying at Rio but I have stayed at Paris and Caesars as well.

When in Las Vegas I also spend time at the Stations properties including Red Rock and Green Valley. Throw in some time at the Palms and I am a happy camper out there.

One of these days I will make a trip back to Arizona and check out the Phoenix and Tucson gaming scenes too.

I wish PokerStars would have been that nice to me in 2009 when I was 97% to Supernova.

But it was smart on their part that they didn't because I ended up jobless in 2010, so I had plenty of time to become Supernova then...yay. Anyone want to hire a PhD chemical engineer?

And if you can avoid it, you probably should avoid playing quarters at Joliet or Hammond since both properties offer 99.5%+ games at the dollar level now.

I wish Vegas was only 4 hours away. We are southeast of Phoenix so add another hour. My wife had been loyal to Harrah's for a longtime, before AK Chin opened, and I after we met. However, we were turned off by the attitude, etc. of casino staff and the management response to our survey comments in recent years. Then, the last two times we accepted a comp offer in Laughlin, the rooms were dirty and not cleaned. Had to switch in the middle of the night the first time and left after one day the second time.

The last two times we were in Vegas we had received offers for comped rooms at Red Rock and GVR respectively. We accepted and were pleasantly surprised by the rooms provided. They were even nicer than the room we paid for at Palazzo the previous time we were in Vegas. We were comped even though we had only played, not stayed, at each casino only once before and that was a few years prior. No reason to seek CET comps anymore.
