Along this line: I recently had a hand pay and rec'd a W2G at Little River Casino, Manistee, MI. There is a form for MY records and one for the Fed but NO state form. Where does that leave me and what is my responsibility to include that on my state returns. I did ask them to take out state taxes (state taxes due on wins cannot be written off/off set with loses as opposed to fed taxes) and they said they only take out FED taxes. I plan to contact L R and ask why I did not receive a State form with my hand pay. They did have a sign posted to the effect that they are not regulated by the state. I prefer to resolve this sooner rather than later after taxes are due! What would you (anyone) do in this situation-preferably without getting into too much trouble.

From the internet...
Gambling/lottery winnings are subject to Michigan income tax to the extent that they are included in your federal adjusted gross income. The Michigan Income Tax Act has no provision to subtract your losses on the Michigan income tax return. Also, you cannot net the winnings and losses.

You may exclude the first $300 won from gambling, bingo, awards or prizes from total household resources for 2012 or household income for 2011 and prior. Anything over $300 must be included in total household resources for 2012 or household income for 2011 and prior for "Alimony and other taxable income" on the MI-1040CR, MI-1040CR-2, or MI-1040CR-7.
Bottom line - if you include that win in your Federal tax return, then it must be reflected in your state tax return.

Tell the casino to send you a copy of the W2G for your state tax filing requirement.

Many thanks, billy!Re: Windsor: I recall avoiding 8/5 machines or those only returning 100 coins for WRF (wild royal flush) in DW instead of 125. Wish I had better news to report. Be forewarned! OTOH There is SO much to like at that casino! One can only hope they have better paying machines for my next visit!

Marie, according to CET website Windsor has some triple play machines somewhere. Do you recall playing them? I believe they are quarters and would require 15 quarters for 3 game or 25 quarters for 5 game. Evidently they are not full pay as I was not able to find them on vpfree's website.

I play JOB, BP, DDB, and DW. On JOB or DDB for instance I would still play them if they were 9-5 machines instead of 9-6 machines. If on the other hand they were 6-5 or 7-5 machines I would for sure avoid them.

Again , our expectations are real low as far as the gambling is concerned.
