Score Area to DNS Error Page

Post by Shalimar »

While playing DDBP, 50 hand, 8/19 at 9:01 PM Pacific, the scores refreshed and the score area filled with a DNS error page. Went to forum to post bug report and upon clicking preview, I lost the message entirely to a red screen below the Post New Topic header (2Xs.)

Was still connect to DSL, modem flashing, and I was able to ping a couple of IPs.

I logged out of the site and back in and everything appeared stable and refreshed just fine.

I get the error when I shut down the connection so it probably was soe kind of comm error. However, I found that once I get the error it never retries once I re-establish a connection. May need some more error recovery.
Also, I got IE7 to hang. It appeared to me like the scores were refreshing at the exact same instance I was hitting the first key to hold a card. Probably a flash problem.

If you have a connection issue on your end or the server has a brief hiccup, this will happen.  Sometimes we perform maintenance updates and this may occur.  The scoreboard cannot refresh itself because the refresh code has not loaded.

For now, the easiet thing to do if this happens is just refresh your page and as long as the connection issue has been resolved, it will all load back up fine.

I do have a fix in mind that will get the scores to refresh again after the timeout if they don't appear during a connection issue.
