CT: Foxwoods or Mohegan Sun?

Post by yankees4ever31 »

Hi Everyone,

I'm going to CT this weekend for some light play and need some advice, Foxwoods or Mohegan Sun for VP $1 denom or less?

According to VPFree2, looks like Mohegan is the safe bet. What's your take?

Thanks as always,

Can't tell you how to win, but Mohegan has many 98.5-99.5 return machines. Look for the small black stickers with white lettering on the machines. They will tell you those machines do not play points/momentum dollars.
Foxwoods on the other hand has few if any machines at the quarter level or less that return those percentages. They do however, have a few 100 play nickel machines and other nickel poker machines with 95-97 percent returns. Mohegan has a few nickel machines in the same range, but no 50 or 100 play. The casinos are only 15 minutes apart, so if you have time, you can check them both out.
I forgot. Mohegan has 2 nickel Multi Strike machines in the 98% range. They can be fun, but streaky. You can also change them to quarters if you like. Same odds and they don't pay points. Finally, if you like the hard to find Double Down Stud machines, the odds are much better at Mohegan. 97-98.

OK...Hope I can make it up there that day. If you folks need anything after check in, stop by the Concierge desk in the hotel lobby. They may have some buffet vouchers or other promos they can give you. Also, when you check in, get the free overnight kits his/hers. Just ask for them. The Concierge desk will be staffed by one or more of the following...Lu Lu, Allison, Brian, or Brie..Just introduce yourselves and tell them you know Dave who plays vp. They will help you out with anything needed I'm sure. Hopefully, we can connect at some point and I can show you guys where all of the various machines are. Mohegan is a big place, but doesn't seem as big as Foxwoods. Hope everything goes smoothly. Also, when you check in, the best views are upper floors with Riverview, or upper floors with a Cove view. They will try and accomodate you if they can. Sounds good and I sure hope I can be there too. Depends of course on how my folks are doing that day. Hopefully well. PS...That night in the Wolf Den which is free and has good seating there will be a band called Prime Time Band. They do lots of songs from our era. Haven't heard them yet myself. Probably are good. Anyway, the show is free with a good stage and dance floor too and you can come and go as you please. There is also a bar right outside the Wolf Den that has some 99% machines. It is smoking though and the Wolf Den is non smoking. From the bar, you can see and hear the show like you are in the den. Show starts at 8.

Wow, thanks for all the info.  We will be arriving around lunch time on Tuesday the 29th and leaving on Wednesday afternoon.  We will probably hit the machines pretty hard at the Mohegan and ride over to Foxwoods to check it out.  We're visiting friends all week, but I convinced my wife to give me a day for VP.   We will be renting a car and taking the Ferry over and back from Long Island.  If you have the time and want to get together, let us know.

good luck to all in the trip(s) to Mohegan.....did you all see in a different thread that I will be in Mohegan on July 16???   Hey  Olds, any chance you will be there that afternoon/evening?????   I hope so......FYI to all:  Resorts Atlantic City  and Mohegan Sun are the same ownership so you can use your comps and benefits interchangeably!      I intend to do this on July 16, whereby for late lunch or early dinner @ 3 pm I will be using my comp dollars from Resorts-AC  in the Mohegan's Bobby Flay Burger Grille!   (And if I have huge success playing in the No Limit Holdem tourney I've entered that evening I may utilize my mid-week room deal I get from Resorts AC....do not want to be driven home at 3 a.m thru the backwoods of Connecticut trying to find the freeway back to HARTFORD with pockets full of cash)

Hi Phil and family. I plan to be up there too on the 29th probably from late afternoon till early pm Wed assuming the folks are OK. If you leave a message for me (Olds442 or Dave who plays vp) with the concierge people and say it is from Fla Phil, I should get it. As an alternative, leave a note on what time to meet with the concierge folks in the Mohegan Hotel Lobby. Near the couch or chairs right in front of the concierge desk would be a good place. I will be able to get your party into the Lounge with me no problem if you folks wish to take a break too. Everything is on the house in there. Guess I should be a gold member then I could have left you a message too. I will have to look into that another time. Have a safe trip and hope to meet up there.

Both Foxwoods and Mohegan Sun Casino are good in the video poker slot machine. I just know where to look in each. But Mohegan Sun is losing in the area of personnel. Foxwoods has a little more action.

vpfree2 is good, but it is very much out of date and a big chore to keep it updated. The best source if you have a specific question on a specific casino is to ask members who frequent that casino regularly if they know what is available or what location in the casino. I just edited my post because I wanted to check something on vpfree2 for Mohegan Sun. While I appreciate all of the hard work that goes into keeping that site updated, I found that is not months, but years out of date as far as Mohegan Sun goes. Unless I read the site incorrectly, it only lists availability of quarter 99.54 job games at a few bar locations. There are many other locations where this can be found at Mohegan. In fact, where you find a 99.54 game, the menu will list many other games in the 98-99 range. Also looking for the small sign that says something like this machine does not pay momentum dollars will be a clue that that machine only has the best paytables inside. If anyone is interested, as a partial list the best paytable games are located in the following locations. Most all bars, wind casino near the center a couple of rows, sky casino under the turtle dome and scattered all over, earth casino, the old poker room which the casino calls the Mike section, Hall of Lost Tribes a cube of 6 as you walk in and several at the bar in there. There are more. I just listed the above to make a point and give basic information. It doesn't help that the casinos are constantly moving things around and changing things inside the machines. It is a full time job to stay on top of everything. Last I heard and saw, Foxwoods has no 99.54 job machines at the quarter level. However, I haven't been there in several months. Those have been gone for years at Foxwoods. Hope this helps.
