Ultimate Poker

Post by racnfish »

During the past year, while visiting Las Vegas, I have been approached by seemingly random people telling me I should be playing Ultimate Poker. I spoke to a Casino host about this, and she told me this is a scam. Not sure what the people are up to, but I was wondering if this has happened to anyone else.

If you're talking about Ultimate X poker there has been discussion about this game here in a different forum post.  The scam is that there are people out there who wait for a person to stop playing an Ultimate X poker machine and walk away. These people will then walk up to the machine and play it if there is an adventageous multiplier available on a particular game. They will put some money in with hopes of returning a profit because of the left over multiplier.
Edited to add: this is not just a Las Vegas thing, it happens all over.

The worst example of what Ted described that I have seen was in Caesars AC. In High Limit, I was sitting playing, and some guy was telling this elderly woman that she should play UltX on the next machine. He had her put in $100, dealt one hand, then told her "Aww - tough luck - you lost. You better cash out". She did, and when she left, he looped back around to play off the remaining multipliers that she left.

When he left, I called over security, and told them what just happened. To Caesars' credit, I saw security run the guy down, and expel him from the casino.

I'm glad you did billyjoe. It's one thing if they leave them behind on their own accord, but deceiving unfamiliar players to intentionally leave them behind is scummy. The few times I have been asked what I'm doing when looking for leftover multipliers, I've told them exactly what I'm doing.

Bringing this back to topic... Ultimate Poker is not a scam. It's one of the legal online US poker web sites. It's currently open only to residents of Nevada and New Jersey. The site is owned by the Fertitta brothers, owners of Station Casinos and UFC.

I'll let the conspiracy folks discuss whether or not the site is actually a scam. :)

Not to be the wet blanket here Brian but how do you know the topic strayed off course? How about we hear from the original poster for some more information before making that call?

OK - so that we are not all confused, there are LEGAL online websites that are open for play to residents in NJ and Nevada. The games that they offer, however, are table games centered around Texas Hold 'Em.

Both Ted and I thought the original poster was referring to the Video Poker game UltimateX, played within the casino, and provided our experiences accordingly.
