Christie signs sports betting billUnbelievable.......if this had happened not even four (4) months earlier, say in June, it might have made at least a little difference....and certainly if they could have seriously made this happen (or made this a big part of) their whole "Do AC"/revitalization effort it would have had a big impact. As it stands now, this quote from the end of the article sums it up best:""This will help clear away the legal obstacles and provide a clear path
to finally bringing sports betting to New Jersey," Lesniak added in a
statement. "And it couldn't happen at a more important time. It will be a
lifeline to Atlantic City casinos and for the horse racing industry,
creating jobs and economic opportunities that will serve the city and
the state for years to come. Sports betting is now much closer to a
reality in New Jersey"I am envisioning a place like RESORTS, and definitely Golden Nugget, Tropicana and Borgata making this a central component to their casino marketing, and it could give their revenue a significant bump.    The real KEY benefit that sports betting offers casinos is the demographic that is most keen to bet on sports (men aged 25 to 55) is also very likely to play table games and video poker, so that the revenue bump comes not as much from the actual BETTING itself (although that helps) but from the corresponding increase in the rest of the casino's action as Sports bettors blow their winnings and more back in the casino.Hopefully the AC casinos get it going in a hurry before this year's football season (college and pro) plays itself out!   And DEFINITELY they need this come SuperBowl......wow that will be a HUGE shot in the arm during an otherwise DEAD and dismal period for AC (the dead of winter January thru March)....MArch MAdness will help too (NCAA tournament.)
