Re: Biloxi on the cheap...
We hate crowds, so we always stay Sunday through Wednesday. That explains a lot since we hardly ever have a problem getting a free or highly discounted room. Cherokee always gives us free rooms and we really like the place. Biloxi's more fun because we like to casino surf all day. It's not hard to find Airport Deuces in Biloxi. A couple of the casinos had it in quarters the last time we were there. We also enjoy driving along the beach to Bay St. Louis. The Silver Slipper is one of my favorites. My wife doesn't like all the cigarette smoke, but the odds are decent for Biloxi. I got a flu shot today and they gave me the high dose. It knocked me down yesterday, but I feel a little better this morning. I seems to be more potent this year.

Good luck to you Phil at Biloxi.
I've checked out VPFree for Biloxi and it seems like Harrah's have far superior paytables than Beau Rivage at the quarter denomination. Might want to consider staying at Beau and going to Harrah's to play, it happens at Vegas all the time where people stay at The Venetian or Aria but play at Harrah's since they do not require high table minimums and the slots are slightly looser.
As for comps, the Sunday to Thursday rates are usually the cheapest in general and casinos usually comp those nights to anyone that plays since they cannot fill usual occupancy, its the more active or regular players that get comped for weekends or the high rollers that get comped for holidays.
I visit Biloxi about once a month. Harrahs has done some remodeling, but the VP is essentially about the same. The paytables at Harrahs on VP are better than at The Beau.
Biloxi has a 'Casino Hopper' green bus that hits all the local casinos. For $1.50 (less if you have a Medicare card), you can use it to visit them, and do not need a rental car. It will not, though, take you to Bay St Louis.
The Palace Casino is all non-smoking, with mostly single-line VP available.

We love the Palace. Classy place with much better vp odds than the Beau. Is Harrahs the old Grand Casino? I checked it out a few years back and it wasn't all that good. I don't think we've been there since the change.

Yes - The Grand has been re-named Harrahs Gulf Coast.
