What's up with the "R" rated Ads??

Post by pkahans »

Now, instead of the scores showing to the right of the game, I have women baring their butts!  It's not anything I want to see!

I was enjoying the competition and the constant updating of scores, but now I get this crap.  I'm ready to stop visiting this site.

What? What company is it for?!  You saw this on the credit tracking?
We aren't even running ads in the credit tracking area.  Please send
more details and email a screenshot if possible to forum@videopoker.com

WM
The banner ad area where currently Time To Talk.org is running is where BSafe blocked an r- rated ad. Nothing there to get a screen shot of.
Didn't think it was one of yours. Just a fluke that snuck in.

I don't know what site it is, but I'm not going to click on anything.  It's not worth getting a porn storm!  I won't be using this site anymore.
It's too bad because it was fun while it lasted.

I haven't been getting ads while playing, and my popup blocker isn't showing anything being blocked.  Everything normal there for me, at least.

WM, I have noticed something different while playing today in the way the addresses are being shown while scores are being updated.  I thought you had made some changes to the updating process for those of us who were getting the various timeout errors.  If you havent, and you think it might help in this ad issue I'll PM what I'm seeing to you.

Yes, please PM me cddenver. For everyone else, if you can describe the objectionable ad I'll simply have it removed if we can locate it. Obviously we don't want ads of that nature and it was not intended to run if it is indeed coming from our server. We have zero ads in the credit tracking games though, which is why I am primarily confused.I believe it is strictly against our ad server's policy to run ads for porn sites so it is highly unlikely that it is originating from there. If they did run one we will take it up with them but I need some sort of evidence to show that the ad is indeed running on the site and not via a 3rd party app that someone may have on their computer.

I agree.  I just PM'ed some info to Webman on some differences I noticed today on the way scores were updating during my play.  Kind of sketchy info because I didn't think much of it, but I'll make a note of the details tomorrow if I see it again.  I just popped in and out of some games after I saw this thread and *didn't* see the things I was seeing earlier in the day.

Sounds like a virus or some kind of spyware.

If anyone come across a truly objectionable ad, we are always happy to take action. But first I need to be able to tell the ad department which specific ad to stop in order to locate the source.  There are so many terrible spyware and other programs out there these days and at times it can be difficult to tell the difference between an ad on our site and something being served up by a malicious program on your machine. Obviously we can only limit the former and everyone is encouraged to keep their system clean by running anti-spyware software and not downloading programs from sources that you do not trust.  If for some reason you are prompted to download something on our site, please feel free to run it by me first to make sure it is safe.  All of our games so far are flash programs and should not experience that issue. The only downloads are the test your skills program and of course video poker for winners which can be purchased on our sister site. Both of these are safe to download as long as it is from a valid domain.
