I'll say this about Dancer....when he speaks about VP, I'll listen! If you get a flush and chose instead a 4 card royal, does the VP remember that it gave you a winning hand but you discadred it?

No each hand is an independent trial.  But I remember it...especially the when the majority of times I end up with nothing!

Hey Rascal,
Just curious about how to modify Fa La La La La.... La la la la's program for myself. Can't seem to get it adjusted  to work like it should.
What adjustments did you make?
Did you adjust the hold cards or adjust the demoniations? Hope you don't mind sharing?

Dancer is clearly the Man.  Fa La La La La.... La la la la's writing is entertaining, but not logical.  Dancer, if anything is boring and logical.

Gambling is math. Over time the better you play the less you lose or the more you win.  The idea of driving all over town after hitting certain combos is a little but wacky.

oej719, my only adjustment is that I come up through the denominations but I do not change the game. I do not play for fun, just to try to win money, and I strongly believe having just one game and really knowing what to "always" do with every card in that game is crucial. If you switch games, playing several, you will never be as good as if you play just one. I probably practice 10 hours a week at home for the 10 hours (or so) that I might spend in the casino each weekend and all 20 of those hours are on the same game. However, I do set a win goal like Fa La La La La.... La la la la recommends, so if I hit that win goal early I won't be in the casino very long on that particular weekend.

Rascal, I agree with you. I also go up in denomination and found I have to stick strictly to bonus poker if I want any chance of coming out ahead.
Db and DDB kick my butt. But I can do ok if I stay with Bonus poker. It is not as thrilling but if it lets me reach my goal and go home ahead that is enough of a thrill without the need of a kicker. I only started playing in April 2006 and only started winning with some consistancy in August.

What is your game? And whose strategy do you use? One pro author tells you this way another tells you his way is best. You can read 10 books and they all say something slightly different is what I have found.

The moderator pretty much stated the answer to this dilemma. VP is described perfectly using statistical mathematics. The probabilities are well known and ANY system (like Singers) that promises you that the math can be beaten is pure BS. A progression simply increases variance which increases the chances of getting lucky or unlucky in the short term. The ones that get lucky will claim the system is wonderful ... until reality (the math) eventually sets in.

Any system can look good in the short term to some set of players. Over the long haul the math will prevail. Dancer sticks to the math which is why he has so much more credibility than Fa La La La La.... La la la la.

But math only determines maximum payout right not always expected winnings since there is actually some skill to knowing what to do right?Edited to say nevermind silly question
