Just back from the Rio Grande tournament in Vegas held at the Venetian.
Played 3 sessions--10 minutes each--and you start with 400 credits. Must play 80 hands in the 10 minutes which was no problem. Special tournament machines located near the live poker room. Weird paytable.
Did great 1st and 3rd sessions, second session I had a DUD machine which lowered my overall score. Came out 28th place and won $150.00. Also had beautiful suite for 3 nights, a $20 comp to the Grand Lux and a bag of chocolates. Received $173 cash at checkout so all in all it was good. Just love the suites and comfy beds at the Venetian. Can't wait to go back. Offered "upgrade" to Venezia tower but declined due to reading about the long walk and construction noise issues.
Started out at the Venus statue bar playing Triple Play DDB for $1. Machine dealt quad 3's on 3rd hand, got kicker on draw for 1 hand for a total win of $1600. Played on their $ for rest of trip. Visited Wynn, Treasure Island, Mirage, Bellagio,Flamingo Hilton and Palms. Overall came home about $1200 up for trip and paid cash for everything (meals, cabs, shopping, etc) so a good trip.
Tuesday late afternoon saw Anthony Curtis holding forth at the bar in the Palms. Palms does have better paytables but many of the machines at the bars (where we prefer to play) have "issues" such as sticky buttons and dim displays. Great dinner at Garduno's, took self guided tour of pool area (really cool) and great people watching later at night when the Playboy club and Moon open. Saw several female "escorts" looking for "Mr. Right".
Biggest hand hit this trip was quad A w/4 at the Wynn for $2K. Dealt a full house AAA77, held the aces only and voila!
