Deed Would Keep Trump Plaza Shut for at Least 10 Yearsyou read that article an it emphasizes in BLARING language just how gutted the casino market in AC has become, and also it emphasizes the extent that EVERYONE in AC has surrendered to accepting either this smaller less dynamic casino market share, or accepting that it will shrink EVEN more!NO one talks of either truly stopping the bleeding or even of trying to grow (or recapture) market share.......they've just given up.

They're doing the right thing, dodging the potential bullet of the bill which would saddle them with an ugly albatross. If they couldn't pull off a sale at the lowest casino price in the country in 2013, abandon all hope. I go weekly and I don't even venture to the north end. It must be kind of dreary.

Revel, Trump Plaza, Showboat  and  AC CLUB (a.k.a.  HILTON).....all these still viable properties were offered to the public and any buyers out there for ROCK BOTTOM, almost-zero-risk  prices.....and STILL no viable operating buyers could be found to keep the casinos in business AS CASINOS!    ABSURD and PATHETIC!!!!Obviously the 2 billion dollar REvel going for UNDER 100 MILLION IS REALLY STARK, BUT i AM STILL BLOWN AWAY BY THE AC CLUB'S demise........At its height in 2005 the AC CLUB (Hilton) was valued at $550 Million, yet by late 2012, after a aborted (and shady) deal with Pokerstars saw the property "ALMOST" change hands for around 20 million, the owners tried one last desperate attempt to sell the casino to a LEGIT buyer and keep it operating (for both its customers sake and its employees.)    The casino was listed for a measly $15 million!!!        550 million  all the way down to 15 million........C'mon man!!!      NOPE......no one could be "found", except one ultimately  LETHAL combination of buyers , namely the Tropicana-AC  and Caesars Entertainment (East Coast/Atlantic City Operations), who essentially offered to "buy" the AC CLUB for the 15 million asking price but in reality simply wanted to cannibalize and "snuff out" the AC CLUB as a form of competition for existing AC venues.     Thusly, in late january 2014, AC CLUB went to sleep and never woke up........Similar stories abound for the other three SHUTTERED-IN-2014 AC properties!
