Why do you play video poker? What is your favorite game and why?

haha. That's great karma right there. They need to make these machines more user friendly by not making it so easy to hit the wrong thing and screw up a big win.

.IF the double up is such a even, or player friendly option.....seems to me, IF.....IF the double up was such a player friendly option, Resorts would have allowed the old guy to back out of it, and resorts would NOT have it set as ACTIVE on all its video poker games.

As has been shown, under the assumption that the "game" is fair (random) the double up feature does not affect expected return. It does increase variance, and increased variance is more favorable to the party with deeper pockets, which in this as in almost every case is the casino.Personally, I'm torn between thinking that Resorts was petty in not letting the guy cash out and that it was game in making him go double or nothing on his big score...

I've heard of stories where the casino let you back out of it, but that could easily be exploited. No one is going to cry, "i didn't want to double up!" when it deals you an Ace!!!

What machines are you playing...

Ace is high on IGT machines (except deuces wild).

Ace is high on IGT machines (except deuces wild).i think we are miscummunicating.....apparently you are thinking the players might try to duck out AFTER the entire double up game has been played and the result known which THEN leads to a player going "I DID NOT WANT TO DO THAT!  gimme my money back...."I was visualizing the double up game being engaged and the machine reveals the ACE you reference, followed by the four unknown cards which the player must choose (one of them) to try and "tie" the ace......I see the player(s) ducking out at this juncture BEFORE they select (like the old guy in my example above WANTED TO DO but was not allowed.)
