Video Poker in the Desert

Post by DAAnMAAn »

I haven't been satisfied with the YouTube videos recently concerning the teaching and analytics of video poker, bar a few exceptions. So I decided instead of being an unhappy outsider with the bad info, subjective opinions, and misleading content, I thought I'd just make my own with software to back me up, win poker 2.1 video poker teacher.
At best, you will get accurate information, be entertained, and nice commentary with good anecdotes. Or at worst, will be an unhappy outsider like I was :) As a bonus, maybe we will both learn things as I create these videos.
I already put up a few episodes and apologize early for some of the early video quality as I'm getting used to the camera (using an iPhone and iPad) and getting the correct distances. It gets better as the episodes progress. I'll just list the ones up and ready and add as I upload new ones. Enjoy and any questions, comments, suggestions, or concerns please keep them to yourself lol kidding. Send them along.
Cheers
To pull it up, Go to YouTube and type video poker in the desert

It's a nice effort. I watched the one on 10/6 DDB.some comments:          He misspeaks on the pay schedule in a couple of different ways. He confuses the difference between 6-to-1 and 6-for-1. 6-for-1 is equal to 5-to-1. "For" is the correct word for video poker pay schedules, whereas Dan consistently uses "To."          When he says the max coin royal is 4000-to-1 he should actually say it is 800-for-1 or perhaps 4000-for-5.           In this one he consistently held his thumbs between the camera and the iphone, blocking the view.           Watching a player play random hands, mostly without comment, is not a good way to learn. If you want to teach somebody, you have to point out the hands where there might be a mistake.             I have no examined the iphone version of WinPoker. In the PC version, there is a "hard hands" setting. Using that would give him a lot of interesting hands to talk about rather than just take what comes.            In this video, he goes over a few hands where he is uncertain about the correct play. He gets the correct answer and is proud of himself, but he doesn't explain why.             10/6 DDB is a game that is basically only found in Las Vegas at casinos that punish you for playing them. He says he doesn't mind basically getting no slot club points because of the high return on the game.             He plays for quarters. Assuming 800 hands per hour, that's $1,000 per hour, the game has a 60 cents per hour EV, assuming perfect play (which he admits that he hasn't mastered yet.) Hard to get excited about that.            If his goal is an ego trip of hearing himself on Youtube, well, knock yourself out. If he actually wants to provide valuable instruction, he needs to try a different approach. These videos provide very little actual instruction and take a long time to get there.

THE WORLD ACCORDING TO BOB, ITS GETTING OLD.

All caps! I guess he's serious! But at least he didn't call me a dumb a$$ this time. It might be too much to ask, but it would be useful to everybody if we could keep the discussion to the issues and not make personal attacks.Dan put up the videos to educate people in video poker. I gave him relevant feedback. I didn't call him names. I didn't put him down. If you were doing something and could the most experienced person in the world at what you were doing to offer constructive criticism, wouldn't you want that?If you personally are tired of my posts, you're welcome to ignore them. I won't be offended. There are a number of people on this forum who say they learn something when I post.

Hi Bob. I don't take things personal and have no problems with the critiques. Just keep in mind it's also meant to entertain as well as inform.
Yes, these vids are done in the moment and mistakes may happen whether coming from my mouth or the thumbs, but the software keeps it on track. It's not for everybody I Understand.
Unlike some others, I never give pretense I have all the answers. Just better ones that I have seen. Certainly not at your level of expertise.
Yes, 10/6 ddb has imperfections and not the best game. But I never claimed it was.
As videos go on, I get better with the thumbs and the video.
One more thing, I don't take myself that seriously to be proud of anything I do except to put out a "good effort." Which u stated.
Everyone is entitled to opinion for sure.
Cheers
