100 play vs. $5 single line

Post by kjmema »

Correct me if I'm wrong but if you play nickle 100 play that is $25 a
pop for max play.  You would have to be delt a royal to get the
max $20,000.  For that kind of investment wouldn't you be better
off taking your money and playing a $5single line machine?  The
max pay off there is also $20,000 and you don't need to be delt the
royal.....

But you also have 100 chances at a pretty good win even if you do not hit them all.  Not to mention all the chances at a 3 or 4 of a kind if you are holding a three of a kind. So you have a lot of chances to win something big other than the dealt royal and a 100x better chance of drawing into a royal than single line.

But if you are talking about the jackpot only, you may be right.  I'm not positive though. It sounds right.

If all you care about is what you can win when delt a royal flush you are ignoring the other 5 million hands you will be delt. You might as well hold only face cards and 10's of the same suit the entire time if that's all you are going for but I don't think that is a wise strategy.  I am not an expert though. I do see the point though that your chances of a monster win do seem higher since you can draw into the maximum score. It sounds like a fun strategy.

With 100 play you never lose all the $25 so your bankroll will last longer than on a $5 machine but one royal is only worth $200 as opposed to $20000 on the $5 machine.

Well that makes sense.  I've played it on line(free) and have
never hit anything too exciting but it did let me play for a long
time.  I think I'll stick to quarters and $1.  Thanks for all
the input...We're heading back to Vegas in Nov. and if I win a bit I
may give it a short try...Hit and RUN!!!

When you play 100 hands, you are merely reducing the volatility of the
game. In the long run, your winnings will be the same for games with
the same payout schedule. Just make sure you are making optimum
decisions and playing on as high a payoff game as possible.
