OK I am back again. Just played 600 more hands in the contests. Still not one 4 of a kind. I am not complaining about not "winning" anything, just that it doesn't seem like it is as much fun as it has been in the past.
If it makes you feel any better (it probably doesn't), I just completed four sessions of the weekly game. That's 400 deals, and 2000 hands. I "amassed" the grand total of one quad - droughts happen.

Real casino in las vegas..., played 9/6 jacks or better one time and hit 8 quads in 30 minutes (approximately 400-500 hands played). Another time played 10/6 DDB and hit one quad, quad Kings, in 4 hours (approximately 4,000 hands played). Sometimes the negative and positive fluctuations go to extremes. Nature of the beast. Usually, it lands somewhere in between, hopefully more positive.Doesn't surprise me that after 500 hands, you didn't hit a quad. But if after 2,000 hands not hitting a quad, that is unusual. Do not know the statistics of that, just like a number on a rouellete wheel hitting 4 times in a row...but it happens.

Streaks are funny and go both ways. Once was at "Live' in Baltimore and was playing $.25 poker and hit 4 aces 4 times in 2 hours. When I arrived to start playing there was a guy playing $1 poker 3 machines away from where I was playing and he was just collecting a jackpot for 4 aces.   While I was playing he hit 3 more jackpots 2 of which were for 4 aces. I got out after hitting the 4 aces 4 times.   When back the next night to the same machine and ended up giving it all back and never hitting a quad again.   Winning streaks and losing streaks with emphasis on the losing keep the casinos going.

Quad droughts are not uncommon. You can't always get what you want. Go to wizardofodds.com or check the quad cycle on any VP site to give yourself an idea of what you're up against. Good luck. Quads happen. Just not as often as we'd like. This site uses a flash player which mimics the RNG in a traditional VP machine. Although your results may not be as exact as a regular VP machine in a casino, they'll be daggone close.

Back to the original question, I can't say anything about the inner workings of the machines, but the biggest difference between Vegas and AC Video Poker is that AC has Joker Poker, in which the jackpot of 4000 credits is five of a kind.

The royal flush on that machine counts as a straight flush and it's worth 500 credits.

The first time I went to Vegas I was looking all over for the five of a kind machines, but there were none. Same for Pennsylvania and West Virginia.

I guess why this site calls the 5 of a kind "Joker Poker AC."

It's my favorite game, and to me it's much easier to catch a five of a kind than a Royal.

The most commonly available pay scale for AC jokers returns only 97.2%

I wouldn't touch it.

Harrah's in Joliet, IL used to have AC Joker Poker and I would occasionally play it. I hit 5oak a couple times, once getting 2 5oaks while playing 5 handed. I was dealt 4oak and got lucky. Once there was a woman sitting next to me playing ACJP and she was playing 10 hands; got dealt a straight flush. She was happy and I would have been happy too. Next time I'm at Harrah's Joliet I'll look to see if they still have it.
