Jokers & Jacks

Post by pshag »

I recently visited Harrah's Cherokee and came across a new machine, and was wondering if there is any info on play strategies for it. It was a multi-game consol with about 6 game choices; among which were Crazy Deuces with a pay table of 250-200-25-15-9-4-4-3-2-1 with a double-up feature. another game was Jokers & Jacks, two games at once with two separate pay tables; Jokers part, 5k-prog, RF-500, SF-500, 4k-80, FH-40, FL-25, ST-20, 3k-10, 2p-5 then Jacks part; RF-prog, SF-500, 4k-225, FH-50, FL-30, ST-20, 3k-15, 2p-10, JoB-5 all payouts based on 10 coin max play. Does anyone know how to figure out the percentage payout on this game? Dancer's Video Poker for Winners is no help because of the two options in the same game. I played the Crazy Deuces game, and it was pretty straight forward, but I wasn't brave enough to chance $10 per hand on the Jokers & Jacks until I knew more about the game.I think Shockwave was the mfg.

I personally saw this game at my local casino but it only lasted less than two months. I had two choices for denomination, one was for 25c and the other was for $1, but yes you had to bet 10 credits a hand. If you get a joker on the final outcome, the Joker Wild will be paid if two pairs or better and then another card will be drawn to take its place for a Jacks or Better evaluation. Likewise, I did not have the guts to play the game. I thought about playing in favor of Jacks or Better if a joker was not dealt, but playing in favor of Jokers Wild if it was dealt. I will never know ...

With the atrocious quarter games at Cherokee, I would give this game a shot. Most serious players (wealthy or not) play the $5 denomination there.

The progressive jackpot also reduces the possible sting. Most people played the keno games on that machine.

On my return trip to Harrah's Cherokee, I found a 25 cent version of this game. I felt comfortable with wagering $30 to learn the game. Strategy seemed much the same as VP for Winners JoB, but the game was too volatile for me. Even with the two-paytable payout, If I didn't draw at least 3k, the credits disappeared fast. The even-money payout for 2pr on the Joker part and for JoB on the JoB part meant that a lot of winning hands did not make up for the 10 credit wager per hand.I was lucky to cash out at $37.50 before switching games. The same machine offered a Krazy Deuces option with a progressive payout for a RF or 4 deuces. If both progressives were over $1500 each, this put the game at over 100% payback and along with the Total Rewards points, free - play, vouchers, and meal comps, this was a more attractive option for me. I like this Krazy Deuces option, and hope the Slot Mgr doesn't pull this game too soon. VP Veteran's right. Cherokee isn't the best venue for VP, but it's close, and I play for fun and entertainment. Better than $20 average for a movie with no chance of leaving with more than you came with.

Cherokee is one of the best for high roller VP.

I never got the opportunity to play, and though the variance of the Joker Poker may be high and the difficulty of learning the game (like holding one mid card that is of different suit than the others) might be there, it might just be the best game to play for low rollers.

I appreciate that you took the time to tell your story.
