Bounce Back Free Play

Post by FloridaPhil »

All this talk about comps lately has me looking harder at my offers.  I recently discovered something called "bounce back" free play.   I never understood how this worked, so I spent some time at the players club checking it out.  The Florida Hard Rocks post this free play three days after you play and you have two weeks to redeem it or it expires.  As it turns out I have been losing a ton of free play and didn't know it.  My last stay in Hollywood earned me $250 in free play.  That's quite a lot for a mostly quarter player.  I guess the idea is to get you back in the casino so they can recoop their loses or hit you up for a few more bucks.  We don't have "bounce back" cash in Florida, wish we did...

That, indeed, is a lot of slot play. How much play was needed to generate that amount?

I played deuces wild max coin quarters for three days with a few trips to the high limit room. About $500 in dollar play and no more than $200 in the $5 machines (I play CS on the $5 machines).   I think the bounce back free play is pretty generous, but it expires fast requiring a return trip within two weeks.

I do not want to sound patronizing, but this is one of the most important things that everyone who frequents a casino should *know about. These offers is what Mr. Dancer calls as mailers. Except if Hard Rock decided to take their whole system online on the internet, nothing will come in the mail and you won't notice anything, cannot blame you on that part.

The goal of a casino is to get its players to make a return visit (or even more) in hopes for them to lose money playing negative expectation games. Hence the term bounceback is used.

The days where the casino gave away cash as a bounce back are long gone. Caesars/Harrah's used to do this in the past, but plenty of people just took advantage of this by going to the casino and going straight home after picking up the cash. As with cash, there is no paper trail to keep track if the player really did play negative expectation games. Thus now the bounceback free play means that if you have to play through the machine once before claiming the money at the end result. It is just to make sure you played during your visit.

If you wish your bounceback offers to continue, you have to play with your own bankroll on top of it.

there is indeed 'bounceback' at florida hard rock casinos, and while i have only played there 1-2 times a year, it has existed for each of the years i have gone. they had been sending out a postcard with the amount earned, but that will end. it is available on the website and the amount earned each day is seperate and has an expiration date. the last time i went, played about 12 hours for 2 days and 3-4 hours the third day. max coin, single line, quarter and guessing 600-700 hands /hour. in other words, about $10k through the machine on a full day. my bounceback was $60-60-20. this amount seemed similar to the amount i used to get when playing in AC.  here is a little secret, if one plays there and is from out of town, they MAY give you your bounceback, past the expiration date, because you are not local. i have gotten it each time i ask. but, you have to ask for it and i have no problem being told no.  if you live in florida, forget it.  i have not played in any casino over the last few years that offers cash and it does not matter to me. the free play/bounceback is part of my gambling budget.

We recently started paying more attention to their website.  The Hollywood casino is very generous with their comped rooms.  They show you a calendar with the rates on each day and let you pick from there.  If you book during the week and are flexible with your dates, we can almost always find a couple of nights comped. Tampa doesn't have many rooms in their hotel, so that doesn't work.  While we were scouting the room rates, we noticed the "bounce back" listing and got curious.  The player's club people weren't able to explain all of it, but we were amazed at the amounts considering we are small time players.  I played in Tampa this week and will check it in a few days. Nothing wrong with free play...I say I play mostly quarters, but I actually play a lot of single coin dollars using CS.  I'm wondering if the denomination itself is bumping up my free play?

No Phil I think the reason you got the bump is the adoration you have for the Native Americans.

Actually, I love everyone.   If Native Americans had never pushed it, we wouldn't have casinos in Florida.  I know it's not politically correct for some folks, but I love immigrants too.  Without us, the Native Americans would have no customers.
