IGT Questions Urgent Info Needed

Hey gang I need someone familiar with IGT machine operations.

Background:
Our favorite casino just replaced its old 50/100 play IGT machines with new IGT with both 50/100 play and STP. Unfortunately, they established a minimum set point for play/hand at 20% of the total hands available 50/100. For example:

50 play 1¢ - min. hand played is $.50     100 play = $1.00
50 play 2¢ = $1.00                    100 play = $2.00
50 play 5¢ = $2.50                    100 play = $5.00
50 play 25¢ = $12.50               100 play = $25.00
50 play 50¢ = $25.00               100 play = $50.00
50 play $1.00 = $50.00               100 play =$100.00

Of course Super Times Pay requires the sixth coin added to all of the minimums per hand.

When I brought this to the Slots Managers they were unaware of the high minimum but checked the Casino Sheets and sure enough 20% minimum bet was established. When they got back to me this afternoon, they told me they had to contact IGT Rep. to determine if they could set a more reasonable minimum. I know I’ve seen $0.50 / $1.00 minimums before.

Question:
Does anyone know the IGT specs on these machines as far as setting minimum amounts played by denomination?

I do not have any inside information about IGT operations, but it is not the first time I've seen or heard about this.

The Cosmopolitan Casino of Las Vegas have their multiline games set to a minimum of $12.50 for the upper denominations and $1 for the lower denominations.

Hi LL. Foxwoods was playing games with theirs too a couple of years ago. They left 1 or 2 with a one cent minimum and the rest got changed as you described. Because of that, I haven't been back since. I don't know the current settings, but I believe they can be set for one cent minimum if desired because I saw it first hand.

I seem to remember hearing a couple years ago about a couple Nevada casinos having 1/2 cent denomination video poker. Do you think this was to combat the loss of players caused by a minimum bet requirement?

This makes me happy, I wish more casinos would do this.  So tired of seeing machines with bonuses occupied by people who are short-coining and therefore not using the bonus.  Go play a regular multi-hand machine and stop taking up space from people who want to play the bonus machines.

This doesn't stop people shortcoining the games. It just makes them bet all the lines at one coin which tons of people like to do on these machines anyway.

LL, when this setting is active (maybe one-third of the time in my experience), I almost have always seen it set at the number of the lines of the machine x 1 coin. However, as alpax mentioned, at Cosmopolitan Las Vegas one of machines is set to $1 minimum regardless of denomination played (1c, 2c, 5c, 10c). So it definitely can be set to not be 20% of maximum bet for all denominations.

And don't you usually play 20 lines anyway larry? Looking out for little guys like me?

There are plenty of times I play less than 20 lines. Like when I'm playing $25 VP. I find it boring to play $500/hand because I have to keep feeding money into the machine.

We generally start with 20-25 lines of 5¢ and usually 10 lines of 25¢ to gauge our timing. A $400-$500 bankroll doesn't last long if you aren't hitting on 20+ quarter VP. Besides, we know how blessed we are and each player has their own denomination/bankroll limit. Hey, we are retired and semi-retired educators. Playing for entertainment and fun should be the focus not getting rich. But, if we hit the big ones thats OK too.

Trip before last we watched a gal playing the 100 play at the $1 level for $500/hand. She locked up on her first full house for $4,500 after adding $100's one after the other. This continued for half an hour with hand pay after hand pay. Later we watched her leave for the high limit area. Stopping by to see what she was doing she was playing $25 single hand VP but had locked up the three slots next to her with a total of around $11-12K. Most of those machines are $45-$90/spin.    Only in my biggest fantasy.

Boo, hiss.  If you're playing a bonus machine at 1 coin per line, you should get kicked off of it.   Let someone who really wants to play that machine FOR THE BONUS play it.  Go play a non-bonus machine.   The paytables are usually better, anyway.
