DDB can be a cruel master.  What got me to quit DDB was a three day Biloxi trip where I went a whole day and a half without a quad.  All the rest were 250 coins.  Anyone who would play 7/5 or 6/5 DDB longer than 10 minutes is asking for it.  8/5 is bad enough...

We used to play 7/5 DDB locally at Casino Arizona for a number of years. All premium hands were progressive and up until a few years ago, we did alright as the 5 progressives mitigated the lower FH and flush returns. Then things changed. The progressive meters obviously slowed significantly as did the premium hands per session. We greatly reduced our VP play there before stopping altogether because of the smoke.

Some places have 6/5 on almost every machine ddb or job, but will have a progressive bank 7/5 or 8/5 which kind of makes me laugh. You would think the progressives would be the lowest setting, but no. Pretty sure the hundreds of machine 6/5 even have it so in dollars, but am not sure. 8/5 is as low as I'll accept and the best it practically gets around here. Even the $5 denominations I think are mostly 8/6. Casinos just have it so good. If the machines were legal in bars, you would think they would offer 8/6 and be happy for the cash.

The last time we stayed at the Beau Rivage in Biloxi all the DDB games in the high limit room where 7/5 without a progressive.  Haven't been back in a while and they may have upgraded by now.   You would think anyone with that kind of disposable income would be smarter than that.  I guess not.

The casino knows what the slots are set to, don't feel like pretending even if they're caught on the VP. Many of the slots in a modern day hl room will be very low 90s.

Double double bonus can be fun to play. But be sure its at least 8/5. Many casinos have "full pay" machines and you get 9/6 on double double. You have a fighting chance on those.
But be sure its at least 8/5.
8/5 DDB is a 96.786% game with perfect play.   This works out to be a more than $20 an hour loss playing quarters at 600 hands an hour.  Your actual loss will probably average much more.  If you're going to play a game like that, you should run for the door with any win.  Most people don't realize it, but you can actually save money by playing a negative VP game with single coin.  In the case of 8/5 DDB, you give up 1.24% for the royal bonus, but you only run 1/5 the money through the machine over the same period of time making the long term affect less negative.  At the Tampa casino the single coin dollar odds beat the max coin quarter odds by over 1/2 percent. Of course there's always the depression of a short coin royal to deal with...
