The difference between the two is that, in the one case, if you draw to the deuce only, there is a jack removed from the deck, while in the other, a queen is missing.

In both hands, the value of the deuce plus the two royal cards is exactly the same. But, the value of the deuce alone is less for the deuce-king-queen hand because, with a jack removed from the deck, there are slightly less straight flushes and straights available than if a queen was missing.

It's rather a miniscule difference, and I think it's rather unfair, firstly to have the test based on a rarely available pay table, and secondly, to deny basic players a perfect test result with such a difficult hand.

When you read things from Bob Dancer on video poker strategy, it doesn't surprise me. He spends a lot of time on penalty card discussions, which is fine, but in my opinion, it is terribly more important that players have basic strategy down first. Maybe he designed the quiz this way so people would unlikely get 100%, and then they may want to take the time to "brush up" on strategy.

Now why he picked this paytable to analyze is beyond me. I've never seen it in over 50 casinos that I have visited.

I did not know Mr. Dancer designed the Test Your Skills page.

Even DDB has one that reflects a penalty situation. I did not guess and I got this one right but I do not think most recreational players will get this one.
