High limit decision

Post by Onenickelmiracl »

If you decided to play $10 STP, would you rather play 3 handed max, or 9 single hands? So $180 a hand for 3 hands($540) or $60 nine hands($540) minimum. Maybe you keep playing after your initial spins, maybe you don't, probably pocketing hand pays, but that's all secondary.

I know a multiplier odds are 1/15, but what are the odds of a 10x? $1,200,000, wouldn't that be nice?

For that small amount of hands, I would go with the single 9 hands.

If it was between 3000 Triple Play or 9000 Single Play, I would choose Triple Play in hopes to lower the variance which is higher with STP.

I would like the single handed too. I always prefer variance when betting over my head. These great dealt hands are too rare.

I only played $5 STP once, one hand, one deal. Lo and behold, 8x multiplier, held 99, and bricked it. $10,000 would have been so sweet. I'd even let them take my picture.

I think it is the reason most STP variants come in multiline because it notches up the variance. Only on Five Star Poker do I see single line UltX, STP, DreamCard, and Good Times Pay.

My reason for the variance if I could ever scratch the surface of playing at those stakes is if I would have to come up lesser bankroll to play though what I need to. Granted I'll sacrifice a bigger win for the day possibilities.

Casinos loathe volatility and will be hesistant to offer those stakes.

I'd prefer 9 single hands as well.

I can predict if I tried this ever, there would be extreme stress. Even four of a kind would probably be somewhat of a disappointment 5-k. I'll try this next year and post a video to YouTube. It'll probably be June or July.

I was thinking maybe going random, maybe 1/10 being 3 handed, 2/10 two handed, something like that.
