Best way to win this bonus? Need advice.

Post by River_Phoenix »

So I was playing with about 360 dollars bonus money I had from playing poker on jacks or better at the online casino Bovada and hit the royal flush. I won 1.1k approximately in bonus money. The problem of course is I still have to wager another 4.9k to be able to cash any amount of the bonus. The worst part is only .30 of the bet goes towards the rollover in video poker. So I suck at math but doesn't that mean I'll have to bet like 12k in video poker? Is that even realistic with only 1.1k? I'm trying to figure if it's even worth my time and if it is what's the best way to go about it?

I was thinking my best bet was to lower my bet to 25 cents and just play forever and hope I hit the flush enough times to maybe still have money by the time I get done. But that sounds like maybe I'd have it in 5 years. Should I up the bet? Keep it at 1.25? Say screw it and put it on the slots? (They go 100 percent towards bonus of course)

Thank you in advanced for anyone who can help.

I don't know anything about online casinos or their bonus programs, but I believe I have played more single coin VP than anyone on this forum. When you play single coin VP you give up the royal bonus.  This amounts to about 1% on most games.  It would be more, except the strategy is different which allows more small hands to hit than if you are playing max coins.  On the East Coast the dollar single coin game odds are usually better than the max coin quarter odds, making single coin dollars a better game than max coin quarters.  I doubt this is an issue on your online game, but it's worth mentioning.Because you are wagering less money overall, you will normally lose less money playing single coin on a negative game than max coins even with the loss of the royal bonus.  If the game you are playing is positive or you are playing for overall points, never play anything but max coins. As you have recognized, playing single coin stretches your money.  As mentioned above, it costs you when you hit a short coin royal.  Single coin play can be a great deal for someone who wants to play a lot of VP on a budget or keep their loses to a bare minimum.  It comes in handy on cruise ships where the odds are so bad no manner on wins can make the game playable. Most likely none of what I said here answers your question.  Single coin play is widely disrespected, especially on these forums.  I rarely play single coin anymore, but in the early days when I was building my bankroll, I enjoyed it very much.  The key is to mentally treat all wins as a win and not get too depressed when that short coin royal hits and it will.

wish I could answer, but I know nothing about on line gambling and bonuses either. Phil, I wish I could send you some of the Mohegan 800 for bet one machines especially the dollar one with the 98.8 return table for bonus deuces wild. Some of the machines at least one bank are even nickel machines 800 for 1 but the tables are in the 96 range on those.

Okay so single coin could be a best bet. I wish. I could explain it well but I'm pretty new to optimalplay and the like so. On this machine it's 6/9 with a x4 bonus for royal if you're using x5. So I don't think there's any difference in betting 1 coin instead of 5 other than its less money and you don't get the bonus. I'm playing a .25 cent bet x5. I could play .5 x5 for a .25 cent bet and still get the royal bonus at a lower pay out. But you did answer my question as if I'm just trying to break even then a smaller bet is my be st option. Thank you.

It's pretty unlikely I would hit the royal again just playing out 4k worth of bets at a dollar a bet right? As I'll only play around 4k hands?
