Blackhawk and Central City (Colorado)

Post by aschus11 »

Hello all,

Brand new to this site and really enjoying the experience thus far.

I live about 35-40 minutes outside of Blackhawk here in Colorado and I took a brief trip there this weekend to play and begin to scout the video poker there. Although I think the vpfree2 site is pretty good at cataloguing video poker games at various casinos in places like Vegas (I was there two weeks ago), it seems to be lacking current and accurate information for the dozen or so casinos in Blackhawk/Central City.

I'm posting to see if there's anyone who lives in Colorado on this forum who frequents these casinos that would be interested in doing some scouting with me over the next month or so. Perhaps splitting up the casinos, identifying all 98%-99%+ opportunities, sharing information, etc. I'm fairly new to video poker and trying to make sense out of all the different games, machines, pay schedules, newer game types (Ultimate X, Super Times Pay, Powerhouse Poker, etc.). This definitely makes it challenging to find decent opportunities.

In Vegas it seemed much easier to find the "classic" single line 100+% payout games likes Double Bonus and Double Double Bonus. Not so much here in the Rockies but I'm sure there are probably some good opportunities when combined with comps, cashback, and promos.

My wife and I live in Florida, but we play in Blackhawk at least one full week a year.  It's our favorite area to visit.   Both Blackhawk and Central City have decent odds but you need to look around.  The best VP odds are in the Monarch Casino at the end of the street.  We play deuces wild and they have NSU deuces in quarters and 50 cents.  The dollar and up odds are lousy.  If you want to drive down to Cripple Creek near Colorado Springs, you can find triple play NSU deuces at Bronco Billy's.  You are so lucky to live in that area.  Beautiful scenery, great casinos and all non smoking.  If it wasn't for our business interests and the weather, we would move there.  Good Luck!

Thanks for that great information. I didn't make it to Monarch last time but I will definitely start there when I go back in a few weeks!

That's how the site gets updated.
