Atlantic City has joined NJ towns criminalizing the release of helium balloons, with a $500 fine. The law prohibits the release of helium balloons along the entire barrier island that is home to Atlantic City, joining Ventnor, Margate and Longport edicts. The ban reduces trash and marine life threats. But it will likely bring down heat from the Balloon Council lobby. I will simply have a drink after my next Royal Flush. $500 is half the winnings.
