Going home from the casino with money in my pocket improves my attitude and my quality of life. That is worth more to me than any jackpot.
OMG, we've gone full circle, and we're back to the original unanswered question from Waiting4RF. By "money in your pocket" do you mean more than you came to the casino with, the same amount you came with, or some lesser amount greater than zero?

New players usually start with deuces or jacks. You don’t see many long time players playing deuces unless it is a good play. Many do continue to play jacks though.

DDB seems to be the game of choice for most people.

Not busting is easy - just take an adequate bankroll to the casino.

Have you heard the answer to the question: How do you retire from farming with $1million? - start with $10 million.

Lmao, are you on our side now with that comment?

If I got a quarter royal and left the casino a loser all in the same day, I'd really be depressed and thought I was an idiot given my normal gambling habits.

Never heard farming motto. It sure sounds apt.

I play video poker to be entertained and to clear my mind for a day. It delivers what I want. I am not entertained when I come home broke. To avoid this result as much as is possible, I play low variance games. This allows me to play longer, manage my money better and keeps me from making bad decisions. Consistently playing above my bankroll is a bad decision. I do not need to increase my bankroll because it would not add to my enjoyment of the game and it would increase my cost to play.

Jackpots mean nothing in the long run. What matters is the net result of my wins and comps minus my losses. If it costs me a few thousand dollars to play a year's worth of VP, I consider that a worthwhile investment. I do not expect to make money playing VP. If it happens, all the better.

I assign an outsized jackpot value as I seek my first hand pay. Bust return trip is never entertainment. Trial and error taught me that certain venues at certain times are best avoided. It's getting better.

I normally hit one or two hand pays each year. This happens when I have a good day and move up in denomination. Here's one I hit back in January.

I would see a lot more if I played at the dollar level all the time. I see no reason to invest 3-5 times the value of a hand pay to experience one then pay taxes on top of it. Others may feel differently.

I guess i’m the exception. I play regular or bonus deuces all the time. Paytable just under 99. I never do well with jacks or ddb. The mrs does though
