After years of experimentation, I think I have something I can live with. I switched to Bonus Poker about a year ago and good things started to happen for me. My issue was always extending my play without extending my losses. This is difficult in the negative game world I have to play in. I also have a problem sticking with quarters as I enjoy the possibility of getting a hand pay. The deuces wild game I played for years was very entertaining. Unfortunately, if you don't hit a quad deuce the day is going to be a bust. I can have a bad day playing Bonus Poker too, but they are much less frequent.

When I play Bonus Poker, I play max coin quarters $100 at a time. Whenever the counter reaches $120, I switch to dollars and play back to $100 then switch back to quarters. This keeps me playing quarters 98% of the time, but gives me the possibility of a dollar jackpot. I realize doing this does not help me mathematically. It's a mental crutch I use to manage my money. Playing this way, I can play 5-6 hours without a problem and come home with money the majority of the time. I play a lot more hands, so my royals are more frequent and my comp points are better.

Nice royal #6. You said "come home with money". Most people say they lost, won, or were even. I think your definition is you took $300 of entertainment money to the casino and still have some of the money in your pocket. If you have less than $300, I call that a loss. Can you elaborate?

I never understood your DW obsession. Crutch is a good term for how you play now. +$20 too hard on JOB Progressive. So I'm hitting Bally's from now on. Shabby clientele, but I'll compromise.

Each time I walk into a casino my goal is to come home with at least the amount I walked in with. This is a personal goal that has nothing to do with math. Obviously, this isn't possible 100% of the time. I set low cash out limits to make this happen. If I can't break even, I try to have something in my pockets except empty space. If I lose my $300 bankroll, I consider that paying too much for my entertainment. That happens sometimes. $100 is acceptable to me. This year I am substantially ahead due to 6 royals. Most years I lose a little money.

I do not play VP expecting to make a profit. Making a long term profit playing the games I have to play is an impossibility. I consider what APs do as playing in the Super Bowl. I can't play in that game, so I do the best I can. I do not chase dreams. I know the limitations of the games I have to play and my own personal limitations. What makes me happy is playing as long as possible as cheap as possible. Playing single coin VP does this, but it sacrifices the fun of hitting a max coin royal. My current playing style is a compromise. Does this answer your question?
