One other quick story. Many people when their mower wont start just roll it to the curb and leave it to the Trashman. Needless to say, i have never bought a new mower in my life. In fact i still have the one i rescued and restored in my shed in 1958 when i was ten. I mowed my parents yard with it for many years and made mad money doing neighbors yards in my youth. I keep it for nostalgia and fire it up once in awhile. It still runs like the day it was made.

No one's upset. I just don't think pickup up garbage is worth my time.

I agree. The hours you might spend making money are far better spent here, keeping the internet safe.

Trolling the Ultimate X machines these days is an enormous waste of time, but some folks seem to have a lot of time. I'm not surprised casinos are looking out for these trolls . . . a couple years ago, there were teams of trollers (*usually two people was sufficient) - - - - one to "chat up" a player who looked like a rube, and encourage them to try a "new game" and that troll would lead them over to the X. After getting the rube to play for awhile, the troll would leave, and his partner troll stepped in to clean up.
Thanks to casino security, the trolls are now easy to identify, whether they are in teams or not.

As FloridaPhil says, lots of ways to make money . . . without standing around looking creepy in a smoke-filled casino. You may as well have "look at me' stamped on your forehead for security to see.

Easy plays are out there . . . till someone else figures it out. I used to churn dollar coins through the U.S. Mint, back "several" years ago, earned hundreds of thousands of frequent flier miles, till that nice play evaporated. Collecting pudding, or ordering one fishing fly at a time from LLBean . . . it just takes a little work and doesn't involve creepy stalking at the smelly casino.

I don’t have a problem with the trolls as such until they run a scam especially on seniors. I have uncovered more than one of those at Mohegan Sun and they were stopped by security. They would troll the Ultimatx machines offering help to those who were obvious novices. 99 percent of the time they preyed on seniors who seem to make up the bulk of vp play anyway. They would pretend to quote help the senior then after the senior won a hand convince the senior to switch games leaving the next hand multipliers intact. Usually, after doing this several times on the same machine the senior would have lost and the crooked troll would convince the novice player to try another machine or just quit. Then they would play off the many and sometimes large multipliers left behind on the various games. I have a better solution than just ban people like that who prey on seniors, but i can’t put into print here!

They will get kicked out at the minimum. I have only noticed it happening twice in the last five years (both in Vegas). First time casino security was already on it. 2nd time, I made sure he didn't pull off the scam. But I was not into Ultimate x when the scam was more common. Its definitely a scummy practice.

Actually, I have learned a lot from this forum. I learned there are some people who believe making a profit is more important than anything else. They consider this an advantage. I suspect a prostitute in Las Vegas makes more money than most of our members. Does that make them better?

I suspect some will find my comment insulting and they should. I do not wish to debase sex workers.

Don't get upset because some people know how to get PAID to do the same thing that you're PAYING for.
Am I supposed to be envious of someone who lurks around Ultimate X games looking for left over multipliers? How about someone who risks their health sitting in a smoky casino all night waiting for a royal flush? How far would you go to make a profit?

I believe putting the emphasis of VP solely on profit making is misguided. It causes players to believe they are failures unless they do. How many of us make a long term profit from the game? If we asked the expert how many truly successful video poker professionals he knows, I am sure the number would be tiny.

This forum makes it sound like you need superhuman skill and intellect to beat the casino. I would think anyone with those attributes could find something more lucrative to do with their talents? Why not tell players how to keep more of their money instead of baiting them with unrealistic goals? That would be something I could support.

I enjoy playing video poker. I do not make money at the game. That does not bother me in the least.

Superhuman skill and intellect to beat the casinos? I guess I can see how one might think that. Especially if he is convinced he has neither. In any event, what is needed to beat any casino or any game is being able to adapt to changing conditions. One can moan about what never was or one can find ways to beat todays casinos.
Or one can drive for hours to play bad games and then say it isn't about winning anyway.

According to the title at the top of this website, the Video Poker Forum is here so players can "LEARN". What are they learning here? How to beat the games they have to play at their local casino? Hardly. How can they beat their games when odds and comps continue to drop all over the country and 90% games are right around the corner?

I think our experts are stuck in a time warp. They still think it's the year 2000 when six month million dollars wins were still possible. When the best they have to offer is scavenging left over multipliers, things are pretty grim.

What they should be doing is telling players how to enjoy the games they have without their wallets continually being cleaned out. There is no need to discuss positive VP games at all. It seems to me the players who have access to them already know how to play them.
