The Tampa Hard Rock trip yesterday was great. I took my usual $300 bankroll. Got to the casino about 10 AM. Played $30 in free play in an Invaders from the Planet Moolah Slot. Then played $1.25 a hand quarter Deuces Wild the entire day. We both had lunch on the house. Hit one quad deuce before lunch and one after. Came home up $180.

97.579% odds, no pot shots, no switching games, no denomination juggling, no panicking, no empty pockets. :)

No problem. Good job Phil.

I had Freeplay Friday at 2 of my local casinos yesterday. I had $140.00 at Harrah's Joliet so I started there first. I sat down at the machine and downloaded the freeplay plus I put in $100.00 of my own money. I was going to play until I was down to $50.00 and then leave. I tried TDB for the first 3 hands of .25 10 play with nothing so I decided to jump to AC Joker Poker. 5 hands later I pulled 5 aces for $1,000.00. I then said I'd play down to $800.00, about 5 minutes later I was dealt 4 7's (3 plus the joker) and I pulled the 5th 7 for another $1,000.00. The guy playing next to me just shook his head because he saw me hit both relatively quickly. I hit a couple straight flushes and walked out of Harrah's 30 minutes later up $2,200.00.

I then made the 10 minute drive to Hollywood as I had $90.00 in freeplay plus I was invited to draw a card that would award at least $50.00 in freeplay. I drew a $50.00 card so that gave me $140.00 in freeplay. Went and played, lost the freeplay plus $500.00 of my Harrah's winnings. Still a good day though.

Sounds like a good day was had by all. :)

I am convinced the majority of my losses are self inflected. If you do the math on our quarter games there is undoubtedly a cost to play them long term. However, that cost shouldn't be exorbitant. I have a good test coming up next Christmas week, three days in Biloxi. I am going to stick with quarters come hell or high water. I'll report what happens.

I play a lot of video poker. Probably equal to or more than anyone on this forum. Anyone will tell you playing a lot of video poker takes resources. I have resources.

What I don't have is the ability to suffer through hug financial swings just to be entertained. For that reason, I choose to limit my coin in. In my part of the country, this means I will be playing negative VP games. Playing these games with quarters allows me to play a lot of VP at an acceptable cost. I also don't have gambling entries on my tax returns and I don't pay State gambling taxes.

What gets me in trouble is attempting to engineer big jackpots. If I stay with one game at the same denomination, I do just fine. The casino gives me free hotel rooms when I want them, my wife gets free drinks and we both eat free food. All this for playing at the quarter level.

When the "beating the casino dream" gets to me, I may run off to the dollar machines or take a swing through the high limit room. I may switch to high variance games, hoping for a big jackpot. I have had my share of big jackpots. They come with big losses.

I am sure I could do better financially if I moved up in denomination. I am not convinced I could make a profit. Would the benefits offset the negatives? In my view, No. I am happy playing at the quarter level and I don't need to add more risk to be any happier than I am now.

Yep a good day for all All the way around. The best part being phil’s mrs is just about all healed up. My tier lock in contest starts at 6am monday. If it goes well, i should be able to pull a room mid week for the next 6 months for anyone who wants to make the trek up here. Spring is a great time when everything is in bloom especially the cherry, dogwood, and crabapple trees.

Thanks for the kind words. She is much better now. That was a nasty fall. Shattered her left knee cap and broke her right arm. She is driving now and back to playing video poker. Keep hitting those jackpots... :)

No beating the casino dream, just Handpay 1 dream. Nightmare thus far. Dollar play today resulted in -$60. Limited Bet 10 shots quarter play and quarter BP was another -$96. Throw in transport. -$176 day. Crawling out of the AC rubble again. I guess my new mandate is quarter play. Bet 5. Set it and forget it.
