What a shock here in mid-Michigan, never thought we would see $1.69! Filled up at a 7-11.

Here in Ontario Canada the cost I paid today was 0.95 cents a litre. In gallons that would be 3.92 a gallon. It is as cheap here as we have seen in a couple years.

I was in Dallas over the weekend watching Notre Dame get their buts kicked but I did enjoy paying anywhere from $1.79 - $1.95 a gallon on the drive to and from. I'll see in the morning where they are in the Chicago area.

Im renting a ford fusion hybrid for the week. Giving my tired old saturn a rest. Beautiful and plush car, but unless you floor it all you get when you step on the pedal at highway speeds is mush. It gets about 38 mpg average. I would never buy one because of the power lag. The elantra ive rented several times gets 43 on the highway with an all gas engine and it moves as well. Im just waiting for the mid winter deals and rebates at rhis point. Im in no rush as i rent from enterprise for a 3 day weekend with their special at 12.99 per day. If i keep it a few more days, it is still only 24.95 aday with unlimited mileage. Sometimes they even throw in a tank of gas for me and every so often i get a free rental. Cant beat their deal in my book. One day soon on a nice day, im going to rent a Masaretti from them. It normally goes for about 300 a day and they are going to give it to mr for around 100. Now if i can avoid a ticket that day, it will be like hitting a jackpot

On top of everything, keeping the new car money invested and in my hands pays for most of the weekend rental costs. On top of that I avoid the huge insurance cost of a new car and the Ct property taxes which in my town would be around 1200 a year just for the property tax. I get to avoid all of the other costs of owning a new car as well like dmv fees. Maintenance etc etc. i wont do this forever, but it works for me for mow
