What I'd (You) Would Like to See Discussed on The Recreational Forum

Post by OTABILL »

FP posted this under another topic. I thought it deserved a topic of its own. With my commentary below.

The Recreational VP forum should be more about limiting losses when playing negative games and less about making a profit. Those that wish to comment on this forum should limit themselves to constructive helpful thoughts about playing the VP games most people can play. I challenge the experts to do the same.
I must respectfully disagree with you. The Recreational Forum should primarily discuss non-strategy subjects. There is a strategy forum (or VP games forum) to get into the nitty gritty of what games to play, paytables, denomination to wager, how to enhance monetary returns or limit losses, etc. Those are the appropriate forum where experts and fellow forum members can provide advice on these matters. Recreational subjects should discuss subjects such as: smoke/health issues related to VP; do you go by yourself or with a significant other; do you play next to one another; how often do you play VP; how long are your sessions; do you dine at the casino or before/after a session; why do you choose a particular casino (distance, atmosphere) and any other matter related to VP as a recreational activity.

I am interested in the thoughts of all members.

I believe the recreational forum is a fact free zone where anyone can post just about anything as long as it is slightly related to recreational gambling. All should be welcome to discuss whatever it is they choose to discuss. Not sure how smoke or health have anything to do with recreational but if someone wishes to discuss it, it is fine with me. If someone choses to share that they have better success at VP while wearing pink panties as opposed to tightie whities, this is the place.

Personally, I don’t mind mix and match and drifting from one subject to the next as often times things overlap. That said, I’m Mr. easy with all of this.

I have to agree Bill. I don't post much here since I am chasing promos and playing to a points total each month. I don't play for recreational fun much these days so I don't have much to say. What I did this weekend is far from fun. It's like a job. If I was to go to the casino just for fun I would be playing many a games and muti hand games.

Your right it's not about winning or losing it's about the play, the new games, the fun of going and trying your luck. Having a meal and even spending the night a time or two.

For years my wife and I played for fun and traveled all over the state. It was a great time. As we got older and and the cost of the trips went up we felt that building comps at one casino made more sense so we drive 45 min one way to play.

We now have a nice NON smoking room that has helped in making the casino more enjoyable.

Mohegan Sun just closed their non smoking room for renovations and conversion to a poker room. Much vp has been yanked. Im sure MGM in Springfield will like to read this and pick up much of the 50k a year I have been leaving at the casino. I just wasted an entire bottle of Fabreeze on my nice leather jacket and hung it outside hoping the crows wont poop on it. I haven’t even touched on the health issues. This is the best way to drive one of your most loyal patrons away Mohegan Sun.

There is nothing fact free about Recreational video poker. If someone asks me if I make a profit playing VP, I say no. I don't say it can't be done. I say it's a difficult and risky business. I also tell them I enjoy playing the game and how I do it without much of the risk.

As far as other topics are concerned. I enjoy hearing about trips to casinos I haven't visited, especially when they are accompanied by photos. We learned about Red Rock on this forum and it's one of our favorites. Why don't each one of us create a photo tour of our local casino? Sounds interesting.

We have talked about smokers for years. What else can you say that hasn't been said? Last week a lady came on the forum and asked some great questions. I thought we did a good job of answering them and she thanked us.

If you don't want to hear the same things over and over again, stop bring up those issues and I won't have to give you the same answers. GO PATS!

Hmm, so this means that if someone asks you a question your answer is a lie?

Not really. We know for certain that if you don't ask him any questions, he will not lie.
Other than that, we don't know how he will respond if someone asks him a question.
