Phil, as evidenced by the above you QUICKLY took opportunity to take a ahem, "veiled" slam toward Bob Dancer.
What's with you and Bob Dancer? Is there some kind of Bromance going on between you two? Anyone who is as intelligent as he claims to be should be fully capable of speaking for himself. He only comes on this forum when someone questions something he writes about. He only stays long enough to ask that his critics be silenced. I am not the first or the last person to call this in question. I am one of the few people who did that actually agrees with most of what he says.

Bob Dancer is never going to address negative video poker games. This is a fact because he would have to admit playing them smaller saves money and that is bad for business. Stating that I cause damage by playing single coin quarters is laughable. Compare my advice to the damage caused by saying $5 games are profitable. He knows few people have the skill and finances to play $5 VP. I wonder how much money was lost by people trying it anyway?

Actually I believe the term is: advice, not advise.

Actually I also believe that Bob Dancer has addressed negative video poker games by saying not to play them.

I have no Bromance going on with Bob Dancer but just get off the guy's back.

OK, how's this? Dear Mr. Forum Expert. If forum members are going to play 96% video poker games, is it better to play them with single or max coins? Is there an alternative?

His answer would help hundreds of thousands of VP players. Let's wait for his answer. Better get a beer because we are in for a very long wait.

FP --- Sorry to take so long. How's your beer?

You say you agree with most of things I write, but here you call me "Mr. Forum Expert," which sounds pretty much like a dig.

My advice on 96% games is don't play at all. Nobody has to play such games. If you insist on playing because you enjoy it so much, great! Just enjoy more quietly and keep away from those who are more serious about winning.

Is playing one-coin "less bad" on 96% games better than five coins? I first addressed this in 1995. The answer is you'll lose less money playing one-coin at a time. Many players, however, are devastated when they end up with a one-coin royal flush and people tell them what an idiot they are for doing so. Some people are so bothered by being called an idiot that saving a bit of money isn't worth it to them.

I have never claimed video poker is a guaranteed income. I do use terms like $10 per hour to indicate the average for a particular opportunity. I've written several times that this is not the same as a job at McDonald's, but it is a useful term to distinguish between a $6 per hour opportunity or a $20 per hour opportunity. The fact that you think "$10 per hour" should be used in a way that means "guaranteed" is an FP problem --- not anything misleading on my part.

You call me responsible for everyone who loses at video poker??? When people ignore the advice I give (such as don't play negative games --- play within your bankroll --- etc.) it's somehow my fault that I provide a roadmap for success. You're entitled to your opinion --- but repeating that theme dozens (perhaps hundreds?) of times on this site is hardly acting responsible. Isn't there a rule on this site about bashing other members?

You are absolutely correct that I believe players who voluntarily play 96% games should be relegated to the recreational forum --- and I believe you should be person number one on that list. There are a number of players here who are actually seeking to improve their game. Your repetitious misinformation (and disappointment that you are not able to find better games) really gets in the way of those who are trying to learn.

Webman told you to pipe down or he would possibly ban you. You've posted several times since then with pretty much the same type of repetitious drivel. Hopefully Webman will act soon.

Perhaps a better solution is to create a new forum --- called "The Video Poker World According to FP," and limit you to posting there. Anyone who voluntarily goes to that forum will know what they are getting and have nobody to blame but themselves. (I can't keep Billryan from going there and busting your chops periodically. He does that for fun. But I can stay away.) That will leave the rest of the forums for more serious discussion.

Thank you for responding to my question. I am pleased you verified what I have been saying for nearly eight years. That is, if you are going to play seriously negative VP games, playing them with single coin saves money. You may want to send a note over to Bill Ryan as he consistently disagrees with us.

Bob, I have no interest in discussing long term VP profit. I don't have access to positive games locally and I'm not flying where they exist just so I can. I have found most of your recommendations valuable on the games I can play. I enjoy my days at the casino, so I play the games they offer. To keep from over paying, I use your software to tell me the right hands to play. I also play as small and as slow as possible. I no longer play single coin for the exact reason you stated, I don't enjoy hitting $62.50 royals. I know it costs me more to play max coins, but I think it's worth the extra cost.

Here's how you can keep me off the Strategy Forum. Field questions from all members, not just those that say things you like to hear. Don't tell us how intelligent APs are, we know already. If you are going to promote professional gambling as a career choice, don't involve family members. The worst thing you ever posted on this forum was when you talked about your future son in law. That's where my problem with you started. Family is very important to me and the thought of my daughter sitting at home while her husband sits all night in a casino struck a nerve.

I don't blame you for all gambling losses. However, I wish you wouldn't create posts stating that $5 games are beatable. You and I both know players don't need any more encouragement to play above their bankrolls. I realize you believe playing positive games equates to profit. This is only true if you have the rest of what it takes to win long term. Few players do.

If you are going to limit your instruction to only positive VP games, I believe there is a good chance you will be retiring fairly soon as positive VP is almost gone. This would be a shame. The 99% of VP players who play negative games could use your expertise. When that day comes, I wish you well in whatever you decide to do with the rest of your life.

I do respond to a variety of members if they ask direct questions.

Since that is your test, thank you for agreeing to exit this forum. it will be better without you

Webman, is there any way to enforce this voluntary (but greatly appreciated) self exclusion on FP's part?

BTW, currently I am not playing any $5 games. (There is, however, a lucrative $10 game near me)

Bob

Welcome to the boards.
Head over to the recreational forum. You'll fit right in.
The main instigator of these battles is Bill Ryan. It starts when he makes comments demeaning me, the Recreational Forum or it's members. This escalates and we end up in a battle of words. I find it entertaining at times, but it bores everyone else and they take sides.

There is no need to discuss the value of single coin VP play any further. This issue has been resolved by Bob Dancer to my satisfaction. If anyone disagrees with his assessment, they can take it up with him.

Webman can ban me from the Strategy Forum if he thinks that is necessary. He should ban Bill Ryan from the Recreational Forum at the same time. I believe both of these actions together would go a long way to resolving this issue. I don't need to be banned to uphold my side of this arrangement. What Bill Ryan does in the future is totally unknown.

This forum should not be a platform for the promotion of professional gambling as a career choice. This is a sensitive issue to a lot of people. We have members and visitors to this forum who are offended by these discussions. It is not necessary to discuss morality or personal life style choices to teach people to be better video poker players.

What Bob Dancer does when he goes into a casino has no influence on my play. It does influence a lot of people. If he's OK with announcing in public that he gambles $50 a hand in a slot machine, that's his business. If I made that decision, I wouldn't be telling anyone.

So here we are. We have two forums that should be able to live together in peace. This is what I envisioned some years ago when I asked for a separate forum. As long as we respect each other, we can coexist. If not, these battles will continue. It will take effort on both sides to make this work. I'm OK with whatever Webman decides.

As I pointed out a couple of months ago, this is a bold faced lie. I gave you one example of positive game states. There are others, including other casino games. I know, because I've been to those casinos. But you CHOOSE not to play them and would rather just be a life long casino loser and then come here and complain about it.

How many threads have I started that were closed? How many times has Webman publicly admonished me about anything? Same question with Phil?
Does anyone else remember that week that Phil voluntarily didn't post? Remember all the arguments and back stabbing that occurred? Remember how glad everyone was when Phil returned prematurely? Of course not, as it never happened?
As far as taking his word on anything, I'll simply point out this thread in in the strategy forum. A forum Phil promised not to post in if he were given a recreational forum.
Deeds. Not words.
