Re: RNG Questions

I've never understood why people who admit to a lack of discipline insist that everyone suffers from it.
I can tell you it is the opposite. I've met incredibly disciplined players out here. I am not one.
I've seen someone leave a concert that was running late to make a raffle that he thought he had a 2% chance of winning something in. I thought it was silly until he pointed out that the raffles paid over $300,00 a year and 2% of 300,000 is $6,000 ,which makes each raffle worth well north of $100.
Professional gamblers aren't necessarily better players, they just see advantages others miss out on.
Attending a raffle where you have one ticket out of ten thousand is not a particularly good use of your time.
Manage to get a few hundred tickets into the same raffle and you'd be nuts not to attend. The trick is learning which promotions to chase, and which to avoid.
On the other hand, what is a pot shot? If you are playing quarters and jump to dollars, what difference does it make? Playing $5,000 on a dollar machine is no different than $5,000 on a quarter machine with the same paytable.

Right, technically Gale's close cousin! I sometimes stomp off to dollar after losing a fast $20 JOB instead of accepting the cold cycle and moving. It's a hypersensitive reaction. If quick to anger, it will likely exacerbate your plight. Still up to five other quarter machines available!

Bill, I generally agree with the statements you made in your above post. The games I have to play are 97% at max coins. If I continue to play quarters, I know what will happen. I'll be back to praying for a $1,000 royal or a $250 quad deuce or I will go home broke. I'll let you decide which one is more frequent.

If I switch to dollars at the end of each day, a common minor jackpot or two will accomplish the same thing. If nothing good happens at either denomination, the result will be identical. Since I have been doing this, going home broke is much less frequent. One of the reasons for this is the nature of Deuces Wild itself. I don't rely on switching to dollars looking for a quad. Too infrequent. A $75 dollar five of a kind and a $45 dollar straight flush are a lot more common.

Advantage Play is an entire different story. I get that. If I could find a game where I could gain an edge on the casino, I would play it the same way all the time. Unfortunately, they don't have VP at Fantasy Land.

Just a great idea to restrict all higher denomination play to the last 5 minutes or less. No time to decimate BR.

What about the days when you lose your stake faster by moving to dollar Deuces Wild instead of staying at quarters? Or does that just not happen to you?

Of course that happens. I only do this at the end of the day and only when I am ready to go home. If I stick with quarter play, I need a quad deuce or a royal to take any money home. Playing dollars, I don't need a rare hand to make a difference. A small run of medium wins will do the trick. If nothing good happens I go home with exactly the same amount of money as if I didn't move up, None. Switching from hourly dollar pot shots to saving up until the end of the day has worked. I don't know why, but it has. I could play dollars all the time, but the game would eat my bankroll faster than you could spell Tinkerbell.

The elves that switch the RNG to "cold" tend to get tired at the end of the day. This is why I always bet bigger late in the day, except around Christmas when the elves are so jacked up on peppermint that you don't have a chance. Based on my recent hits, I think I'm pretty close to figuring out when they take mid-day naps.

That reminds me, I'm late for my own nap.

If you walk into the casino backwards, I find the machines simply don't know how to handle it. Is he coming? Is he going?

Good question. I think what we have here is a case of "Everything works until it doesn't". I'll keep doing it until it stops. Did you ever hear the story of the guy who is hitting himself on the head with a hammer? A friend walks up and says "Why are you doing that?" The guy says "Because it feels so good when I stop!"
