I've always wanted to try Tunica. It's a long drive from Central Florida. Did you happen to check the single line VP odds? Sounds like you had a good time.
9/6 Jacks exists at Sam's Town for as cheap as quarters.

Also 7/5 Bonus with UX at quarters at Sams town (99.3%), but that's multiline though.

8/5 Bonus with optional hot roll at Horseshoe for dimes and quarters. You can play one line of regular VP on this.

98.86% bar top Double Deuces Wild at Resorts with a Royal progressive (will close June 30th... sigh)

9/6 DDB at Horseshoe for dollars everywhere, even at the bar. Some of these available at Gold Strike too. Even 9/7 dollar TDB (99.58%) at Gold Strike.

Fitzgerald's 500/9/6 JoB (98.88%) for any wager at the dollar level.

10 line 9/6 Double STP TDB at Gold Strike for dimes+ (can only play one line and still max bet)

7/5 Super DDB (98.61%) at 1st Jackpot bartops.

30/8/5 Bonus and 9/5 JoB at Gold Strike for quarters.

It goes more downhill after that, but most casinos have some "decent" machines...

The only casino where I didn't name any so far is where Ted stayed... lol Hollywood has the worst paytables overall. Best single line might be 8/5 JoB with a progressive at the bar. Multiline 6/5 Bonus with UX (~98%). But the game Ted played isn't far behind (97.68%).

Vman, I should have taken a pic of the Hot Roll royal but I didn't think to do so. That way I could have silenced any naysayers, not that I think you are one of them.

Phil - I did not check single line VP odds, mainly because that's not my thing and I don't play single line. I did have an enjoyable, but rushed, trip. The weather was crappy, overcast and chilly. I did give some thought to playing a bit on Sunday but I didn't want to take a chance on traffic driving back to Chicago. I did get stopped on the drive down for 84 in a 70: got a pass (big surprise).

Thanks all.
In 2012, me and a friend were playing $5 40/10/6 DDB next to each other. I don't remember how long we were on them, but at one point he hit four aces for $4000. As he was waiting to be paid by check , I hit AWAK for $10,000. I believe he still may have the picture, and if so, I'll see if I can get it.
Unfortunately the days of 40/10/6 DDB are long gone at Roadhouse. Hell that casino is gone now. I lost on those machines though. I had a real cold session with 99.96% Deuces once. While chatting with a Seven Star who was an AP. We both got killed, a host comes around about 5am asking if he needed anything. He says no. But at that moment, I said "screw it" and asked if I could get my room comped because I was gambling all night and I wasn't staying in it. They tried to offer me breakfast at first, but I didn't want that. It took them a while, but they decided to comp the room.

I was loyal to Roadhouse until they closed after that. They got a lot more out of me than the value of that room night. I loved the place, but my luck was definitely below average there, even with 2 royals there lifetime. Haha

i do not follow a lot of the threads and comments, so what i am asking, may have already been covered. from the posts i have read, it seems this particular player has had remarkable success over the years, including the past 5-7 years. success to the point, that he may be beating the casino. he is doing this during a time of reduced paytables, playing negative games, not limiting his play to nevada and playing highly volatile games.

i would be interested in what he credits his success to, if he is willing to disclose his secrets.

I have had some good luck over the past few years and I do lose. First, I play video poker on my terms and not the casino's. I do not chase promotions unless they are worth it to me, I am willing to stop playing if I get up any certain amount of money that I am comfortable with, I always play max coin at a denomination that I am comfortable playing at, I have sufficient bankroll to ride out any cold streaks that I may encounter, and I get good at the games that I like to play. Quick Quads for example, is a game that requires a bit more thinking and strategy than some other games.

People have chided me before because I say that having a positive attitude helps. I believe this and I will continue to believe it. I don't let other people influence me or my play. Late last year I reported on having a big losing session at Four Winds in New Buffalo, MI. I reported that they took out my two favorite DreamCard machines and because they did this; I most likely will not play there again.

I have become a more disciplined player over the years. Money is important to me and when I win I then think what I could do with the winnings. If I hit a hand pay or large hit I will not throw it all back into a machine. I believe that leaving a casino with what you walked in with is a win but walking out of a casino with more than you walked in with is a better win. It's nice to be in Las Vegas and be up (or even) and not have to be concerned making your gambling budget last.

I mentioned before that I play on my terms. Just because I have many (over 10) casinos all within a 4-4 1/2 hour drive to choose from doesn't mean that I go alot. I feel perfectly fine playing here on this site. I have mentioned before that I was curtailing my local play this year and would try to get to Las Vegas a bit more. Vman is my hero for that, and I really really like Las Vegas.

Edited to add: I also believe in luck and carma. That is evidenced by what I wrote earlier about getting pulled over for speeding.

appreciate the reply.

when you say you lose, does that mean you are net negative, from vp play, over the last 5-7 years or you simply have some losing sessions?

Congratulations. Playing post payoff? Pretty painful. But it's your money.

It means that I have some losing sessions. Over the last 5-7 year period you mentioned, I am up. I have been playing video poker for almost 30 years and I really started honing my game about 16 years ago. In the beginning I was pretty reckless, many many times coming home with empty pockets.

Congrats on your latest great trip. The thing we all know (or should know), is that you just can't predict when these good hits will occur. You just keep playing, and hope one will come along.

Thirty years? You must be one of, if not the, the longest term vp veterans on this site. I'm at 28 years. Is anyone else close?
