If you consistantly quit early when you are ahead, you will not turn a severley negative game positive. You will end up playing less hands which means you will lose less overall.

I know the math, know the rules, know the games, yet in nearly every single session I play, I am ahead at some point At the end of the day though, meaning end of a session, I am behind on most of them. Even though those ahead at some point wins may be small many times, I believe that in the thousand or so sessions I play a year that I would end up positive for the year by quitting when ahead somewhere between five to ten percent of the bankroll brought for any particular session.

Over the 15 plus years I have played video poker, I have tried every conceivable way to make a profit playing negative video poker games. I could write two books on that subject alone. I have been ahead for long periods of time. I have hit incredibly lucky pot shots and turned $20 bills into thousands numerous times. I have had $4,000 royals dealt to me after switching from quarters. I am not positive lifetime and I don't expect to be. The only way cashing out is going to put you ahead long term is if you hit a lifetime positive jackpot and never darken the doors of a casino again. Walking out ahead makes you feel good. That's a good thing. It does not affect your long term results.

For years I doubted the math. I also didn't believe the experts who claimed long term profits playing positive games. When given the chance to play real positive games on this website, I win just like they do. The problem in all this is finding positive opportunities you can play locally. I'm not risking $25 a hand just to prove it's possible. For me video poker is Candy Crush for quarters with pretty girls bringing me coffee. If the game is negative including comps, you are going to pay to play.

One thing I forgot to mention. If you are a Recreational player like me, striving to walk out ahead has value if it keeps you from playing above your bankroll. "Playing with the casino's money" is a delusion. If you hit a jackpot, don't automatically up your bet or run off to the high limit room. The chances you will double up are a lot worse than the game itself.

Nothing is more depressing than hitting a royal and going home with empty pockets. Been there, done that. The reason I strive to come home with money in my pockets is not because I believe it is more profitable. The reason I do it is to keep me from taking greater risks with the profits I have already won.

Greed accounts for more player losses than all the negative VP games put together.

well I just got there, checked in for my FREE ROOM went to pay and hit 4000 royal at job fullpay. I didnnt feel like checking out 5 min after checking in !! also there were a number of times I hit early and went on to hit 3 royals that trip. greed has little to do with it in my case . I think with me its action I like . to repeat another of my coined phrases GIVE ME AGONY OR GIVE ME ECSTASY BUT SPARE ME BOREDOM !!!!!!

Continuing to play after a jackpot is not greed. Greed is upping your bet because you believe you are playing with house money. I can't tell you how many times in the past I have hit a quarter quad deuce for $250 and fed it back into the machine in dollars. These are hard lessons to learn.

There is no reason to quit after a big hit, unless you need the temporary loan the casino has gifted you. If you have an advantage, you want to play as much and as long as possible. If you don't, you want to avoid playing and if you absolutely must play, play as little as possible.
