VP trip update Golden Nugget LC 5/30/31

Post by Lucky Larry »

Earlier in the month we had made reservations with our host for a couple of trip to GN including a 2 day trip to GNLake Charles at the end of the month. Inspite of having an end of the month bankroll and with a big trip coming up we decided to go anyway to rest and the weekend was a big "free play" weekend. Golden Nugget Lake Charles has a really generous weekly comp / free play set up with additional free play money (in addition to your weekly $) almost every weekend. Since we've moved our play from Coushatta to GNLC after I made Elite Status my rewards have generally been $100/week free food comp (at any of the Landry's restaurants, *Sweet C gets another $75 for Chairman) and my regular weekly free play. On weekends GNLC gives additional "free play which varies from week to week. Last week my extra $160/free play was available as usual each of the 4 nights -Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights from 4-midnight. The amount is partly based on how busy the casino is so back in Jan/Feb I got $240 for each of 4 nights back in January/February when casino numbers are usually down. The other determiner is amount of coin-in.

So we went over mainly to spend Thursday night and then have money to play from the first of the month paychecks for Friday. I hadn't planned on playing the Thursday $160 since "play- #'s played" impacts the free play amount, but we decided to give it a try after a great dinner at Salt Grass Steak House on the casino. Playing a new slot game we discovered recently I downloaded my $160 into the machine in three different downloads pulling tickets after my original money was played so I'd have a VP bankroll. Turned the $160 into almost $400 for VP and then the fun began.

My favorite machine is available but i can tell my timing is off as we aren't sharing much love. Sweet C leaves her All Star - having not hit and I take it and began with 5 play 25¢ DW and hit deuces within the first 5 minutes of play (10:28 pm). Veterans of the forum have heard about my premonitions, so a strong premonition hit to move to 3 play 50¢ DW. Four hands in I held 2 deuces and caught the other two on the 3rd hand (10:31 pm) I'm now up $600 plus and text Sweet C that I have money for us to play. Give her money and resume my assault. At 10:51 I'm dealt three deuces on the 3 play and catch 2 four deuces (1st and 3rd hands). i now have $1,500+ in the machine. I cash out and go show Sweet C the new hit. I play up and down and finally my favorite machine opens up again and I move to it. Once again I play, start with $400 and cash out $1,000, start over with $400 and cash out a $997 ticket. During the streak I've caught dealt DRF, dealt SF and multiple 5K but have the feeling the big ones are still to come. I start a third time with $400 but just continue a slow decline. Add more $ and continue the slide knowing i'm not getting the hands I should. I move back to the original All Star and Sweet C moves to one next to me. My bad timing continues and I'm going down. I'm getting frustrated because switching between DW and DWB still going down and i've not caught a RF or the Aces on DW. I keep having the feeling they're just waiting for me! Its now close to 2:00 am and we have until 3:00 when the new day starts. I'm now tired and griping openly to Sweet C that I feel the big hits are still to come. Boom at 1:56 I'm dealt 5Aces on DWB on 5 hands. We laugh and then I start to struggle again. Time for a break, "Bad attitude leads to bad play". Sweet C rarely will play my machine but i convince her to play for me so I can take a break. (Poor thing has not hit a thing all night and has been taking $ all night and feels bad). Sitting next to her next she gets dealt 3 RF on 5 hand 50¢ DWB and it hits me!!! I look at her and say, "Royal Flush" as she hits deal. The second hand catches the two needed cards and I look at her and say, "I told you Royal Flush!" Thanks Sweet C!!! We change places since she's playing on my card all night to boost the points. I get paid a little before 3:00 and we play a few more minutes and head up for the night.

Friday was a wash and we went up and down for the night but way up for the trip. Looking forward to our return layover on our trip back from the San Juan Island, Washington and the three day layover in Vegas at Green Valley. The odds will be much better and I'm hoping for another round of luck.

Congrats Larry. If you haven't been to the San Juan Islands, they are beautiful. On San Juan Island itself, there is an overlook at a park (Lime Kiln?) where you can see pods of Orcas that are always in the area.

We're really looking forward to the trip out there, its been on our list for years since we spent two weeks traveling Vancouver Island and stayed in Sooke BC overlooking the strait and were able to watch them come through the area. The weather will sure be a relief from our local 97-99 heat with 80-90% humidity. Sweet C afraid she be cold. Told her I'd keep her warm and we could also take jackets.

Should be comfortable this time of year. If you are taking a ferry from Anacortes, make sure you get there early. I missed a boat by one car and had to wait 5 hours for the next one.

There is a restaurant with a second floor deck in Friday harbor where you can relax and have a few drinks waiting for the ferry to show up. Very nice.

Thanks for the FH information. i understand about the ferry. We came back from Vancouver Island years ago on the ferry. Sweet C is the type that wants to be there at least 30-60 minutes before the recommended early time. And, we've never missed a flight or ferry. Love that gal to pieces.

Thinking about doing a day trip to Orca Island by walking on the ferry and then renting bikes/mopeds. Any thoughts.
