a question for Phil or anyone who lives in FL

Mohegan Sun does it right, a choice of odds or comps. The labels are right on the front of the machines.

AC is same. The 9/6 have a $50 for 1 TC label. Subpar games unlabeled, but a more gentle run up. I like the free drinks. I like the celery and olives garnishes as much as the alcohol.

If I am given the choice between a 99.5% game with no comps and a 97% game with generous comps, I may or may not choose to play the better game. This would depend on the comps offered and if I have the ability to use them. Free rooms are worthless if you live nearby or will never return to that casino. Free play is worthless is you can't play it. Free alcohol is worthless if you don't drink alcohol. Comps only have value if they have value to you.

I play 4-5,000 hands of 97% single line video poker each week. I play max coin quarter VP about 95% of the time and max coin dollar VP about 5%. So far this year, my cost to play has been less than $1,000 and I haven't been that lucky this year. If you factor in approximately $25-$50 a week in free play, free lunches, free drinks, and comped rooms, It's a real bargain.
Assuming all these numbers are estimated well, I would be very happy with these results.

How many Royals have you had in 2019 so far?

I could always play the crap pay tables and "enjoy" better comps. But it's too poor a trade off. Borgata supposedly has better comp system, if you can put up with their bum machines.

So far this year, I have had two $1,000 royals. I average about 2-5 royals each year. I also hit one $1,000 quad deuce after switching to dollar play. My 5% dollar play has kept me going this year. I would like to take credit for it, but I know it's pure luck.

I am not a believer in my ability to beat the casinos. I don't have the right games to play and my comps don't come nearly close enough to give me an advantage. My skill level is decent, but not prefect. I am a believer in putting myself in position to get lucky. No professional player would risk his bankroll on luck. As a Recreational player, I don't have those concerns. I play small enough so whatever happens doesn't matter.

I hate quad based games. I don't like racking up huge losses waiting for quads that never seem to come. Deuces Wild is my game of choice. The variance is relatively low and the entertainment level is high. Deuces is all about hitting quad deuces and royals. In an average day of play, I expect to hit at least one. I don't always, but this frequency is about right. Whenever I hit a quad deuce or a royal, I keep the ticket and I don't touch it until I'm ready to leave.

Limited dollar play is something I enjoy. All the games I have to play are seriously negative. For that reason, I play max coin quarter games 95% of the time. If I played dollar games all the time, my losses would be four times larger. I time my switch to dollars when the game is working for me and I use low cash out limits. If nothing happens, I switch back to quarter play.

This is not a way to beat the casino! It's only purpose is to satisfy my desire to play a few dollar hands. Often I will hit a nice hand and stash a $100 or two in my wallet along with my quad deuce tickets. The mistake I always made in the past was switching to dollars and feeding all my winnings back into the machine. Holding to your cash out limits is tough. It takes discipline to return to quarters after a nice dollar win.

No one is going to beat the games I have to play. I can use math to predict what will happen long term. An occasional switch to limited dollar play is part of my entertainment. When it works, it's wonderful. When it doesn't, I've lost another $20 bucks. I consider it the same as buying a Power Ball ticket, only it pays better.

You must be decently above average on quarter quad deuces too. With those numbers, i expected 4 quarter royals at least. You're behind on royals if you have played 100k hands this year!

Racking up huge losses on 9/6 JOB is particularly upsetting. Hoping for that hand pay and card cutting ceremony. Meanwhile, I should probably shift a third of my play to DW!

im sure im not the only one who drools over video poker royals that pay out 40 grand theres endless videos on youtube showing just that, my main point being if i get a cluster of royal flushes in a short amount of time a positive progression would beat the snot out of any flat betting system obviously betting max would be ultimate but who knows when a royal will come and we have our bankrolls to protect
Getting a cluster of royalist will make any system look good. Of course there is just as much of a chance of that happening as a unicorn dropping by to drop off a dozen golden eggs, but what the hey....

Why are you watching videos of people playing video poker? Are you expecting to learn something?

Getting cluster of royals isnt all that impossible like uncorns infact my first costed me 250$ not a bad exchange if i say so myself and my wife got hers after she played 150$ br but your right casinos wouldnt offer vp if it were an atm machine but a 97% game did manage to pay my rent for past 5 months playing strictly quarters looking back now i wish i could have used some positive progression system would have increased my winners
