a question for Phil or anyone who lives in FL

No one can predict the future. The experts tell us if you play positive VP games perfectly, good things will happen. I believe them. They also say playing negative VP games eventually losses money. I believe this as well. What they can't tell you is how much you will win or lose or when this will happen. I play negative VP games because they are the only games I have to play at a level I am comfortable in playing. I don't expect to make money playing negative games. However, there are ways to reduce the cost of playing them. I could write a decent book on this subject. No one would buy it. Why? Because gamblers don't want to read about losing less, they want to read about winning more.

If creating a progressive betting strategy gives you enjoyment, I encourage you to work on it. I worked on mine for years and it provided me with hundreds of hours of entertainment. One word of caution. You will never find a strategy that can turn an overall negative video poker game into a long term profit maker.

I am very pleased with the strategy I use now. I play all the video poker I want at very little cost. I will never hit a life changing royal flush, but I will never go bankrupt from gambling either.

If you could play all the video poker you want at no or very little cost would you consider that a positive result?

I go to the casino at least one full day each week. This past week I went twice. I get to the casino around 9-10 AM and leave around 3 PM. I eat free in the casino coffee shop and the food court. I drink all the free coffee and soda I can handle. They put my name in their drawings which they have frequently. I can stay overnight at the casino for free if I'm flexible on the dates. The same pretty girls bring me coffee who serve the $5 players. All they want me to do is play their quarter 97% games. So far this year I am less than one quarter royal away from making a profit not counting comps. I have not been exceptionally lucky this year.

By any calculation, this is a great deal on quality entertainment. To me the casino is like a luxurious Country Club with free food, drinks and lodging. If you could play golf as much as I go to the casino at the cost I pay, why wouldn't you? Some players pay a lot more for the same benefits. The strategy you use determines how cheap it's going to be.

They tell me the Beau Rivage in Biloxi has a very nice golf course. I don't play golf, so I don't know if that's true. I have had many different leisure time activities in my life. I have never had one that provides me with as much entertainment for the money than video poker. We should talk more about that on this forum.

Beating the casino is a powerful sales tool. Unfortunately, It's unrealistic for the majority of players today. What we should be telling players is how to get more from their investment while limiting their loses. Breaking even in a casino today is winning.

I wish that I could get all those Florida freebies in NJ. If I just do my free play and an hour, I'm usually even. But who quits after an hour? Only the sensible.

No casino where I play gives generous freebies for playing 9/6 Jacks or Better. The Mohegan Sun does it right. They give you a choice of odds or comps. The labels are right on the front of the machines. I would like to see more casinos adopt this system.

FAA you should be happy with AC NJ casino caesars offers 9/6 jacks progressive and when my wife ordered a wine she got in a glass not like tropicanas dentist cup she calls it

compared to NYC resorts casino they charge you for a drink is not free and you have to tip, and the clients there ask you if they can put their card in the machine your playing not only that but they do a bag check process also my wife said her video poker machine malfunctioned once but (i told her its a lottery machine not a poker machine) also read online there machines break down during payout

so be happy with NJ FAA its alot better than other places i know of

my wife is ditching the idea of Florida since we need to tell our bosses we need time off in advance but we don't know what the weather will be like 4 weeks in the future so it could rain and no beach which defeats the purpose of FL and vegas maybe the winner since its 50% cheaper then FL which bugs me since its 2.5 hours longer flight so you would think a shorter flight would be cheaper

Florida is a nice place to visit in the winter. November thru April is wonderful. The rest of the time, it's hot and sticky. I've lived here all my life, so I'm used to it. If it wasn't for air conditioning, Florida would still be a swamp.

There are many places across the country that can be fun video poker vacations. If great odds are your only criteria, stick with Vegas. We don't like Vegas for a lot of reasons. We don't enjoy crowds and we want to be treated special. In Vegas, they treat quarter players like a tourist.

Black Hawk Colorado is our favorite video poker trip. Personally, I like Reno. My wife doesn't care for it. The odds at the Peppermill are great. You should try Biloxi. The odds aren't great, but you will enjoy your visit. It's a lot different than the northeast.

Very few casinos offer great odds and generous comps to quarter players. I'm sure you can find positive opportunities at $10 a coin and up. You better be confident in your abilities and have a Warren Buffet sized bankroll as the risks are huge. I'm not against anyone playing those games. I think it's a waste of time to discuss them on this forum.
