Is the Casino Beatable?

How about this. The next time someone starts a thread about beating the casino, you disagree with them.
Until then, don't you think the six hundred nearly identical threads you've created speak for themselves?

I believe talking about this issue is helpful to many Recreational players. I have never had a problem with the mechanics of Advantage Play Strategy. It's a sound idea based on sound math. The problem comes when you try to apply it in a real casino environment. Casinos read books too. They know full well that some of those games back in 2000 were beatable. They learned from their mistakes and do what it takes to remove the advantage. Any player advantage left is only there for a short period of time or is used to fill the casino with hopeful losers.

Telling players they are failures if they don't beat the casino causes players to miss the enjoyment of the casino experience. Casino gambling is intended to be entertainment. I don't see golf pros on TV insulting weekend players because they can't join the PGA. For an expert to call players unintelligent because they want to play single coin to save money is ridiculous. What is even more ridiculous is to state that professional gamblers are more intelligent than amateurs. They must have one of those mirrors that tells them how great they are every morning. "Mirror mirror on the wall, tell me who the greatest video poker player is of all?" "You are, now get out there and inhale some more tobacco smoke!"

Video poker is a very entertaining pastime, especially for a retiree. If it wasn't, I would find something else to do with my time. I play small, so it doesn't cost me a lot to play. I play 5-6 hours one day a week every week. I enjoy staying overnight at the casino with my wife. I take casino vacations and don't pay for rooms, drinks or food. Sometimes they actually pay me to play. Should I expect to profit from their generosity? That only happens in books.

Why do I continually post about this issue? I am attempting to bring the video poker narrative into the present day. When I came here, it was dominated by members who's main focus was making money from the game. To most players today, this is far from reality. Recreational players outnumber successful professional players a million to one. Ninety nine percent of these players play negative games. If we wish to truly help players, these are the games we should be discussing here.

There are places on the Internet that are dominated by professional gamblers. There should be a place where non professional Recreational players can discuss their play without harassment. Playing these games is about managing your losses to an acceptable level. For those who can't enjoy the game unless they make a profit, stop trying to convince us you can.

Phil -

With the first 50 or so forum posts you made regarding your attempting to bring the "recreational player video poker narrative into the present day", we got the message.

Subsequent to those first 50 or so forum posts regarding your attempting to bring the "recreational player video poker narrative into the present day", you have made an additional huge number of posts (600 may be a slight exaggeration but closer to that number than further away) that have offered not one bit of new or helpful information that which you have not previously written about.

How about this: Bring something new to your solidify your stance on the drum you are beating and please just stop posting the same reheated information.

Edited to add: And why exactly are you curious to know if "our expert" has ever been audited? What business is that of yours? You do know what curiousity did to the cat, right?

P.S. To the forum, I wasn't planning that my first forum post after a 5 week hiatus be this.

Closing topic because it is a rehash of previous threads. Ideas do not need to be re-posted. The original threads are still there for people to discuss. Feel free to bump an old thread if you want to add new information to a discussion.
