Whether casinos have better or worse pay schedules on the bartops is something that varies by casino. There is one casino I play exclusively on bartops --- and another one where that was my strategy a few years ago until pay schedules changed there.

You need to be more careful of sticky buttons on bartops than on other machines, simply because everybody has a drink and drinks get spilled. On most non-bartop machines, your drinks are not immediately adjacent to the buttons and spills do not hurt you.

People talk more at bartops. At least some of the people sitting there will be drinkers, not players. they come in for social interaction --- not gaming opportunities. Whether you participate or not, it's going to be going on around you.

tipping is more important at bartops than elsewhere --- if you're a competent player. at places where you have the advantage, the bartender is going to see you day after day. If you're doing well, the bartender will know. If you combine this with not tipping the bartender, it's easy for the bartender to say something to slot supervisors which will not help you. Making the bartender your friend is smart business.

Nice post, Bob. I'm curious though. You ever drink alcohol at those bartops?

And in my experience, bartop paytables vary on on quality. For those that cannot offer free drinks though, the paytables are never the worst generally. Exceptions Harrah's NKC and Ameristar St. Charles.

I guess I’m a bit spoiled Vman. Both Ct Casinos offer free drinks and at Mohegan, the best paytables. The bartenders are great. They even have many nickel games at the bars. I always of course take care of my bartender. They are never pushy and so pleasant. If you want to be left alone, they will. I usually tip a buck a beer. They will call a slot attendant for you if you need one. They will even call to try and get a button fixed. Sometimes, as you are pulling up your stool, my Peroni in an ice cold glass is set down in front of you. If I happen to kill a machine, I will leave a 5 as I leave. I also have standing promise. If I hit on 4 to a Royal there is a hundred dollar boll for them. Hasn’t hit yet, but I get an instant cheering section before I hit draw. Most of them are local people. Very nice overall.

Excellent post OLDS ,as usual, wish you were at Soaring Eagle tomorrow Craft Beer & food freebie, wife not a beer drinker. Will have to soldier on with 24 sampling tickets. Luckily room is only 200 yard crawl away. Wildman could possibly help but he may have his own overload. Stay tuned survival probable. :?

I think some of my posts have been as wordy ad Phils. Well somebody has to fill the gap. If the forum senses senility creeping in on my posts, let me know. Trying to stay active. I actually miss posts by all of the members who have come and gone or take long absenses. Even BR. At least I know what to expect usually and sometimes they are quite amusing and thoughtful
Not wordy, worldly . Senility, of course. But you have earned it. What the hell was i trying to say? :?:

Peroni beats my Amstel Light in Beer Advocate ratings. Both are rated poor. At least we have great taste in casino games.

I had an amstel light for the first time in over a decade last week while playing cheap VP in a Dotty's like establishment. Typical euro beer. I dunno what people see in them.

I just happen to like the slight bite to the Peroni. In the old days I used to drink Shaefer on tap at the local watering holes. It was good then. Sorry I can’t make the beer fest. Sounds great. We just had one up here at Mohegan. It was combined with a whiskey fest. Glad we had a room that night. Funny, both breweries were founded just a few years apart. Schaefer in 18;2 in NYC and Peroni in 1846 of course in Italy

Beer was better when beer gut was a moot point. I love the classic Peroni design. It’s a classy product.

"Schaefer is the one beer tp have when you're having more than one." I liked the jingle, not the beer.
