Tickets vs Coins

Went to Vegas this month and was really dissapointed that most are going with paper tickets instead of coins. Takes a lot away from the atmosphere of Vegas. Been going for 40 years and think I will just go to local Indian casinos now since they are comparable with tickets. I miss dirty hands.

I respect your position on this.  I am just the opposite.  I do not miss waiting on the hopper being refilled when I want to cash out.  Also do not miss the dirty hands.  I really like the ticket system.

  Reno has lots of coin pays, obviously near the doors.

LV still has a few casinos with coins. For example, the 2nd floor at Sam's Town has many coin droppers.

Downtown Vegas has some coin in/out. Fremont and California are
two that come to mind. Both have same owners.

When TITO first came in I was not very excited but since have grown to see it as an advantage. I keep tickets with good wins (+20%) and don't cash them until I am ready to leave; this has increased my bankroll discipline and I believe has resulted with me taking home some cash. Like you I miss the clink, clink of the payouts.BTW, the last time I was in LV the Tropicana still had a few of these.

I tell this to everybody who loves to hear the clang, clang-clink,clink of coins coming out of a gaming machine. If you need to hear that sound so badly, get an aluminum bowl and a roll of coins(denom your choice)and clang them around to your heart's content. TITO has eliminated many low-level hand pays and coin in-out jams that were the rule back in the day. Sorry it may have put change people out of work, hopefully they found better jobs in the casino!---CWA---

Jerry's nugget has lots of coin operated video poker.  It is located several blocks north of down town on LV blvd.  Not to disagree with anyone but I agree with those who like the TITO machines better.  I too am better off financially because of this option.  I like to cash out with the bigger payouts and to give the machine a break when it cools off.  For some reason this helps, at least for me.  With the older machines it was a pain in the @#$! to cash out with lots of credits.  Furthermore, it was an added distraction to have to guard your change buckets with your winnings.

Does anyone remember??  Just a few years ago it was not uncommon to see those "little ole ladies" playing the slots, sometimes three or four machines at a time, wearing one glove?Do you remember lugging those tubs of coins to the cashier?And I'll bet the Las Vegas security teams are not sorry to see the little buckets of temptation sitting around for the bad guys anymore.I love TITO. I love cashing out when I want and not needing to wait around for someone to fill hoppers and get tipped.A number of years ago a friend told a story about while she and others were at a casino, waiting to go the the wedding chapel for a family wedding, she stopped at a nickel slot, her friends are all yelling "hurry up, hurry, we have to go".  She made one more pull..and hit a sizable jackpot.  She said the coins started dropping, the buzzers and whistles started going off, the lights were flashing and...the message on the machine said "call attendant"...and...NO one showed up to cash her out!  She was very late to the wedding.Yep, love TITO.

A number of years ago a friend told a story about while she and others were at a casino, waiting to go the the wedding chapel for a family wedding, she stopped at a nickel slot, her friends are all yelling "hurry up, hurry, we have to go".  She made one more pull..and hit a sizable jackpot.  She said the coins started dropping, the buzzers and whistles started going off, the lights were flashing and...the message on the machine said "call attendant"...and...NO one showed up to cash her out!  She was very late to the wedding.

I love TITO too.  Best thing since sliced bread.  I always thought it strange that an attendant would lug a big bag of coins to a machine that had run out just so that a player could fill a couple of buckets with those same coins and then lug them back to the place where the coins had come from just a few minutes earlier.
