how long do i stay on mailers?

Post by stevel96a1 »

suppose i get 15$ weekly free play and suppose i don't return to that casino for next 10 years
do i keep receiving 15$? i remember sands pa bethlehem reduced my wife free play by 10$ since we took a break but what if we took a longer break? would this apply to atlantic city? would gambling in a casino once a year keep me active? again i gambled 1 night in palms vegas and 1 night in resorts and im being bombarded with their offers but other casinos i feel like to i don't get back anything after losing any where from 250$ to 1,000$

There is no rule to go by for this sort of thing. It's going to depend on the casino and whatever promotions they decide to run at any given time.

I used to get enduring mailers monthly or quarterly for up to maybe a year before they dropped off. These days they are much less frequent.

But then out of the blue, years later, I'll suddenly get an offer from a place I haven't played at, when they decide to try to win me back.

Some players clubs may be more reliable, or once you reach a certain tier level maybe. But for players like me, there is really no rhyme or reason to the offers.

Funny that you're getting Palms offers. I played there quite a bit on my last trip (with players club card of course) and never saw a thing. I wonder if I need to update my mailing address there. Were they email offers or in the mail?

i played at palms last year (around this month actually )without a players card and captured the royal flush, after i got my royal i signed up for a card and played a little bit and now getting offers in e mail and in mail box and im in nyc lol will be heading back early september for a 4 night stay,

i guess it all comes down to one paragraph in a book i read video poker mania, if the casino is rich and doesnt need your business they dont have to offer good poker machines or good comps, he said this to atlantic city in the early 90s and still holds true today 2019 lol, sands pa seems to be the tightest on comps and weakest on .25 poker machines (95-97% yuck!)

At least in ct, they reduce offers on their websites just days after visiits where you may have played tiny or not at all. Hosts at both casinos tell me not to swipe my card the day you are leaving if you are going to skip playing or play a very small amount. It cuts your average way down and reduces or eliminates offers. Like posted above, each casino does their own thing. I think the computers today figure out this stuff with very little human intervention

Yeah, that’s holy writ. No card on slow/no play. My mailers coming consistently; casino cannot suddenly renege. Bad news is that I’m too good a customer. From now on I shall only enter the establishment with a competitor TITO! Sick of hand over fist losing.

I bounce between 2 local casinos - mainly due to mailers.

If I lose badly, hopefully with a lot of coin-in over 2 -3 visits, 2 months later my mailers will be good. If I don't play much, except for picking up FP, my mailers will be good for about 2 months (they are monthly mailers with twice a week FP available, often with a bonus on Friday or Sunday). Then, the 3rd month they are halved. A month later they might be $5. So it might go $35/$35/$15/$5. The $5/FP might go on for a few more months, then nothing.

"Hosts at both casinos" comments are exactly in line with my local casino. I tried to stress this point of short sessions, and frequent moving, affecting your average and comps on another thread but it seemed to raise no interest. I think this problem should be of concern to any VP regular.
Any other comments?

I have never understood the thinking of casino operators/managers who implement procedures that discourage a person from playing. That is what the "don't play small on your departure day" thing does.

One would think they could come up with a way to not discourage play on your departure day , without messing up their daily average determination.

I was once told by a host at the M that they did not include play on your arrival day in the average day calculation because they knew you were there for only part of the day. Why that same thought could not be routinely applied to your departure day is beyond me.

Many things a casino does are beyond me instants Mohegan son taking away all of my future complementary rooms going out several months if my average trip leaves them with $500-$2000 for one days play why would they not offer me a free room how much do they think they can rent the room for 300 bucks tops makes no sense before I retired I had 35 Years business experience working with failing businesses believe me if they didn’t have a captive audience they would all fail the way they are run sometimes I forgot to add the rooms that used to be offered to me are going to convention people almost all of those people are non-players they are there for a business meeting and that’s it maybe they buy you dinner or something but that’s about it couple drinks at a bar then they’re out of there they also for the most part did away with their marketing department that used to get me a pair quite frequently in the early days
