I'd have no problems raising kids in NYC. I wish I could have sent my son to Holy Cross.
In addition to getting a fantastic college prep education, it reinforced my Christian values, something quite a few members here could use a refresher course in.
After eleven years alternating between Catholic schools and the Army educational system, I was shocked how unprepared my fellow Seniors were when I transferred to what was supposed to be a top Long Island high school. I'd have been better off skipping my senior year and starting college early. We talked about putting me in college in January, but I'd just turned 16 and my Mom thought I was too young. College was rough at 17, I doubt I'd have handled it a year earlier.

There are some articles available on the Maspeth HS scandal.I went to PS 151 in Woodside and PS 10 in Astoria before I moved with my Dad's company to NJ. Back then those schools were good
